2 Chronicles 1: 10 Give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may lead this people, for who is able to govern this great people of yours?” 11 God said to Solomon, “Since this is your heart’s desire and you have not asked for wealth, riches or honor, nor for the death of your enemies, and since you have not asked for a long life but for wisdom and knowledge to govern my people over whom I have made you king, 12 therefore wisdom and knowledge will be given you. And I will also give you wealth, riches and honor, such as no king who was before you ever had and none after you will have.” NIV

    • This what you really want
  • You have not asked for wealth, riches or honor, nor for the death of your enemies, and since you have not asked for a long life
    • Not blessings for yourself
  • but for wisdom and knowledge to govern my people over whom I have made you king,
    • The ability to do my will
  • God wants to do more than we even ask for…if our hearts are right before him.

 

Ephesians 3: 20 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, NIV

 

  • He can do more
    • He is willing to do more

  • according to his power that is at work within us
    • This power is the balancing force, the ingredient that causes God to trust us. Balances us to be able to pray right.

 

Ephesians 3: 16 I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18 may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. NIV
