Mark 4: 24 “Consider carefully what you hear,” he continued. “With the measure you use, it will be measured to you—and even more. NIV

  • Misreading the recipe leads to disastrous results.
    • What is worse is freestyle baking.
      • Do what I want to do, add what I want to add.
    • How we hear is the size of measuring cup that we use.

James 1: 22 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. 23 Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror 24 and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25 But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it—he will be blessed in what he does. NIV

Luke 6: 37 “Do not judge and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. 38 Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” NIV

  • Do not judge and you will not be judged.
    • This is usually done because we look at only the outside of things. Maybe making them more important than the inside. (biting into a chocolate just to find the terrible filling, yuck)
    • We can influence hat flows into our lives. Not a quick fix.
  • Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned.
    • Pronouncing final judgment. Good or bad.
  • Forgive, and you will be forgiven.
    • Release others from their debts.
  • Give, and it will be given to you
    • I will reap what I sow.

  • What you add to your life by doing will be added to the body of Christ – not what you say you believe.

Romans 12: 3 For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you. NIV

  • The tendency to be overconfident in our life in the areas that we feel we have a handle on. The areas that we have practiced in.
    • Think of yourself with sober judgment.
    • In accordance with THE MEASURE OF FAITH

Ephesians 4: 7 But to each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it. NIV

Ephesians 4: 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. 14 Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming. 15 Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ. 16 From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work. NIV
