Introduction:
He’s mastered shame and trademarked embarrassment. His lies wound, and his accusations sting. He’ll build up your pride just to throw you down. Yes, the devil is strong, but there’s one power he can’t beat—and it’s on your side. Learn how to answer “When the Devil Knocks”!
In this series, we’re going to prepare to fight the daily battles we often don’t even know exist: the attempts by Satan to attack our mind with lies, our hearts with pride, and our souls with accusations. By the end of this series, I pray we will have two main takeaways: 1) awareness that we have an enemy looking to take us out every day, and 2) confidence that we have the tools to fight from victory instead of for it.

DECEIVER
44 …He [the devil] was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
44 For you are the children of your father the devil, and you love to do the evil things he does. He was a murderer from the beginning. He has always hated the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and the father of lies.

(Lying/Lips)

I. THE DECEIVER QUESTIONED GOD’S WORD.
I. THE DECEIVER QUESTIONED GOD’S WORD.
He [the serpent] said to the woman, "Did God really say, 'You must not eat from any tree in the garden'?"
1 The serpent was the shrewdest of all the wild animals the Lord God had made. One day he asked the woman, “Did God really say you must not eat the fruit from any of the trees in the garden?”
Didn’t deny that God had spoken—Questioned it!
Didn’t deny that God had spoken—Questioned it!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bible true? God? Surely not what God meant—Now for you? (2017)
If God really loved you—Let you have what you want.
Did God really say you can’t? You aren’t hurting anyone? Your life.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Eve started to question God.
God said you may eat freely from any tree in the garden—Except one.
2 The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden…
2 “Of course we may eat fruit from the trees in the garden,” the woman replied.
(Word—teaches goodness)
(Word—teaches goodness)
She omits the word freely—Implying God was holding back.
Moment Satan started question God’s Word—Eve questioned goodness.
When you start to question the goodness of God
easier disobey will of God.
II. THE DECEIVER TWISTED GOD’S WORD.
II. THE DECEIVER TWISTED GOD’S WORD.
Eve says, “We can eat from any but one or we will die.”
4 “You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman. 5 “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
4 “You won’t die!” the serpent replied to the woman.
5 “God knows that your eyes will be opened as soon as you eat it, and you will be like God, knowing both good and evil.”

We have defensive armor (Helmet, breastplate, shield, belt)
Our only offensive weapon—Inspired Word of God!
17 …the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
17 Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bible isn’t book about how to be nice and good.
Your greatest spiritual weapon wielded against the devil in spiritual war.
2 types of swords—Big, heavy (swung with two hands) (WORD)
Shorter—Sharp on both edges—(Gladiius) Hand to hand combat.
For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword.
12 For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.

Turn rocks into bread—Written—Man shall not live bread—word.Throw yourself down—Written—Do not put Lord to test.Bow down worship—Away—Written—Worship Lord God.
1 Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted there by the devil.
2 For forty days and forty nights he fasted and became very hungry.
3 During that time the devil came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become loaves of bread.”
4 But Jesus told him, “No! The Scriptures say, ‘People do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
5 Then the devil took him to the holy city, Jerusalem, to the highest point of the Temple,
6 and said, “If you are the Son of God, jump off! For the Scriptures say, ‘He will order his angels to protect you. And they will hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone.’ ”
7 Jesus responded, “The Scriptures also say, ‘You must not test the Lord your God.’”
8 Next the devil took him to the peak of a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory.
9 “I will give it all to you,” he said, “if you will kneel down and worship me.”
10 “Get out of here, Satan,” Jesus told him. “For the Scriptures say, ‘You must worship the Lord your God and serve only him.’”
11 Then the devil went away, and angels came and took care of Jesus.

11 I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.
(I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin.)
(I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin.)
Before the word comes from your mouth it must be hidden in your heart.
Must be hidden in your heart.

Conclusion:
14 His head and his hair were white like wool, as white as snow. And his eyes were like flames of fire. 15 His feet were like polished bronze refined in a furnace, and his voice thundered like mighty ocean waves. 16 He held seven stars in his right hand, and a sharp two-edged sword came from his mouth. And his face was like the sun in all its brilliance.
