Malachi 4: 5 “See, I will send you the prophet Elijah before that great and dreadful day of the Lord comes. 6 He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers; or else I will come and strike the land with a curse.”

  • Father, SON, and Holy Spirit

Galatians 4: 1 What I am saying is that as long as the heir is a child, he is no different from a slave, although he owns the whole estate. 2 He is subject to guardians and trustees until the time set by his father. 3 So also, when we were children, we were in slavery under the basic principles of the world. 4 But when the time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under law, 5 to redeem those under law, that we might receive the full rights of sons. 6 Because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father.” 7 So you are no longer a slave, but a son; and since you are a son, God has made you also an heir.

Sonship belongs to Jesus ( Heb. 1:2 ). This term has been used by some to question the full deity of Jesus. But the term “son” is designed to emphasize relationships between the Persons of the Godhead, not to suggest that Jesus is a created being. Even the term firstborn (v. 6 ), according to Arndt and Gingrich’s Greek Lexicon, “is admirably suited to describe Jesus as the One coming forth from God to found the new community of saints” (p. 734). He is “Firstborn” in that He is the Founder, the Model, the One with the Father’s full authority to act

This is also our relationship to God!

  • The son (Bar) of someone. It was important to be connected to a family. A father!
    • Sons and daughters
      • Sons are different than people you hire or slaves
      • Sons are part of the family and have a different attachment, responsibility, view of everything.

Ephesians 5: 1 Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children
