Sermon Tone Analysis

We have seen the need for change.~*The

wilderness is a place of preparation to reign! i.e.. Moses, Joseph, Abraham, Jacob, Isaac, Jesus etc.. Now let’s talk about what to change.

*The Lord said something last week that I want to follow.

He said “ The giants that they had to conquer were not in the promised land, but in their hearts” So we have to conquer the internal giants in our hearts before we can defeat the external ones in the promised land.*

*Unless we learn the lessons we should not be in too much of a hurry to leave the desert.*

*But we should also not start to get a desert mentality and start to call it home.*

*Heb 3:7-4:3*

7 Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, (1)*/To day/* (2)*/if ye will hear his voice/*, (3) */Harden not your hearts/*, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:

9 When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years.(Num

14:22-23)

10 Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, *They do alway /err in their heart/; and they have not known my ways*.

11 So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.) 12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil */heart of unbelief/*, in departing from the living God. 13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be *hardened* through the deceitfulness of sin.

14 *For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;* 15 While it is said, */To day/*/ *if ye will hear his voice*,* harden not your hearts*/, as in the provocation.

16 For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses.

17 But with whom was he grieved forty years?

was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness?

18 And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not? 19 So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.

CHAPTER 4

1 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.

2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them*: **but the word preached did not profit them**, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it**.* 3 For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.

*Heb 4:*12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.13

Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

*We have said that you have to change the inside of a person before you can change the man.

We mean the heart of a man.

Here in these verses we can begin to see that God does things in a certain way*

*1 Cor 10:1-13*

1 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that *all* our fathers were under the cloud, and *all* passed through the sea;

2 And were *all* baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;

3 And did *all* eat the same spiritual meat;

4 And did *all* drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.

/~*It was not their circumstances that hindered them from entering the promised land.

Or their spiritual condition, But their disobedience to the word of God!/

God makes sure first that we are able to obey his word!

Many had hardened Hearts!

 

*EXAMPLE OF HARDENED HEARTS:*

Give command to stand and sit at least 10 times!

·      I don’t want to.

NO!

·      I don’t understand.

I want to know why first...

·      It’s too hard.

I’m tired.

·      Who are you to command me around?

·      I decide what I will or will not do!

·      It would work better another way.

·      Why did I come here just to do something stupid like this?

·      I don’t like the way he said it.

·      I am afraid to do it wrong, so I won’t try.

·      Remember Naaman?

He wanted to hear from only the Prophet, to understand why the river, why this river, why seven times, he wanted it done his way or not at all.

 

·      Being distracted by the man.

*Matt 21:23-27*

23 And when he was come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came unto him as he was teaching, and said, By what authority doest thou these things?

and who gave thee this authority?

24 And Jesus answered and said unto them, I also will ask you one thing, which if ye tell me, I in like wise will tell you by what authority I do these things.

*25 The baptism of John, whence was it?

from heaven, or of men?*

And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say unto us, Why did ye not then believe him?

26 But if we shall say, Of men; we fear the people; for all hold John as a prophet.

27 And they answered Jesus, and said, We cannot tell.

And he said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things.

·      Hardened hearts come from Sinning and sinning is doing it your way instead of God’s way!

·      Yeah if I saw Jesus or an Angel or something then I would know and all my doubts would be gone!

*Luke 16:27-31*

27 Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house:

28 For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.

29 Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.

30 And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.

31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

*Prov 4:20-27*

20 My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.

21 Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.

22 For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.

23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

24 Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee. 25 Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.

26 Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.

27 Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.

*Eph 5:5*

5 You can be sure of this: The Kingdom of Christ and of God will never belong to anyone who is impure or greedy, *for a greedy person is really an idol worshiper-- he loves and worships the good things of this life more than God.* (TLB)

 

*2 Tim 3:1-7*

1 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days.

2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy,

3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good,

4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God-- 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power.

Have nothing to do with them.

6 They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over weak-willed women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, 7 always learning but never able to acknowledge the truth.
