Ephesians 3: 14 For this reason I kneel before the Father, 15 from whom his whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name. 16 I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18 may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. 20 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen. NIV

“Limitations” Financial, emotional, relational, social, your accomplishments…

  • Paul prays
  • For the whole family of God not just the so called “spirit filled”
  • out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you

There are four requests in Paul’s prayer, but they must not be looked on as separate requests, but as parts of the whole.

  • Strength
    • He prays that the inner man might have spiritual strength
    • How much strength you have is your first limitation.
      • Inner strength, not physical.

§  Acts 1:8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” NIV

        • Power that will affect your life as well as the whole world is available for all believers.
    • BUT WHY?  
  • Depth
    • A deeper experience with Christ. Dwell, live with, to know him more and more.
      • This is a major ministry of the Holy Spirit, to make Christ known to us. * If you are following the Holy Spirit he will first of all lead you here. To Christ, to know him, hear him, be lead by him and to know his words.

  • Grasp, attain, understand and receive God’s great love
    • Understand it and receive it.
    • Christ is the revelation of God’s love.
      • Love moves us into the eternal, the real power, and the reasons for living, purpose, the limitless realm of HOPE. Love, Hope, Faith!
      • It goes beyond head knowledge into the realm of the impossible. Faith!!!!
      • This makes room in us, for….
  • Fullness
    • Being “filled unto all the fullness of God.”
      • Is that possible? Apparently it is!
      • I have to become a vessel that can hold all that God has for us.
  • I guess that is why he had to add the next verses.

20 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us,

  • This was his will then and is his will today.

 

21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.
