Mk 2:1-12. Jordan Gommer. From the beginning of Mark's gospel, Jesus has made clear the purpose of his ministry: to preach the gospel of the forgiveness of sins, through repenting and believing in him. However, the crowds that followed him seemed more interested in his ability to heal physical ailments than spiritual ones. In this well known story, we see how Jesus uses his healing of a paralysed man to point to an even greater healing, the healing of our relationship with God, through the forgiveness of sins that he offers.
