Therefore David ran, and stood upon the Philistine, and took his sword, and drew it out of the sheath thereof, and slew him, and cut off his head therewith. And when the Philistines saw their champion was dead, they fled.
Yasaile Daaud dagure, tyas Palisti-maathi ubhie ra tyasko tarawaar samaatera tyasko myaan-baaTa thute ra tyaaslaai maare, ani yasaile tyasko Taauko kaaTe. Ani jaba Palistiharule aaphno ladaakulaai mareko dekhe, taba tiniharu bhaage.
The Philistines sent Goliath to the front
Because he was their champion
Champion - one who has surpassed all rivals(bijetaa)
Better than other men
Taller than other men
Better fighter than other men
He had a bigger sword than other men
Greater skill than other men
“If he can’t beat the best Israelite, no one can.”
“Choose you a man!” 17:8 “aaphnaa nimiti ekjana maanislaai chun!”
The Philistines chose their champion
And Goliath called for the Israelite champion
But Israel didn’t send a champion
They didn’t send a warrior(ladaaku)
They sent a youth
They sent a shepherd
They sent the servant for the most High God
People put faith in a champion because they put faith in themselves
I know my strength, and he is stronger than me
I know my own skill, and he is more skilled than me
The champion is sent because he represents the strength of the senders
Sending the champion was putting faith in the strength of man
Here is the problem with champions
The best of men are men at best
We are imperfect (asiddha)
We are weak
We are not worthy of faith
And when you put your faith in man, you will be disappointed!
This happened to the Philistines - and they fled!
This should not happen to Christians
And the Lord, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.
Ani Param-Prabhu nai, a’ uhaa’ nai timro aghi-aghi jaanuhunchha; Uhaa’ timro saaTh-maa rahanu-hunchha; Uhaa’le timilaai chhoDnuhunna ra timilaai tyaagnuhunna’ naDaraau! niraash naho-u!
“I put my faith in Jesus, not man!”
Then why do people quit when their preacher falls?
Why do people quit when people around them sin?
Why do people flee at the failure of men?
Because their faith was in a man!
In a champion!
Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Haamro biswaaskaa kartaa ra siddha paarnuhune Yeshulaai herdai, jasle aaphno aghiltira raakhieko aanandakaa nimti sharmalaai pani tuchha Thaanera krusko shaasanaa sahanu-bhayo, ra Parameswarko si’haasanko daahine haat-paTTi basnu-bhayo.
Keep your eyes on Jesus
Put your faith in him
He will not give disappointment
He will never fail(asaphal)
Not in the person who gave you the gospel
Not in the pastor
Not in the famous Christian leader
Not in the Bible teacher
Not in the television/radio preacher
Only Jesus will give us victory!
So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Yaskaaran jaba yas binaashile abinaash-laai pahiranchha, ra yas maranashil-le amarataa-laai odchha, taba yo lekhieko bachan puraa hunechha: “Mrityu bijayamaa niliyo.” 55 He mrityu, tero khila kahaa’ chha? Je chihaan, tero bijaya kahaa’ chha? 56 Ani mrityuko khila paap ho; ani paapko shakti byabasthaa ho. 57 Tara Parameswarlaai dhanyabaad hos, jasle haamraa PrabhuYeshu KhrishT-duaaraa haami-laai bijaya dinuhunchha.
Are you following a champion(bijeta) of men?
Or the Lord of the universe(brahmanDa)?
Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
