Sermon Tone Analysis

The title of the sermon is God Has Not Forgot.

Introduction:

As we go through this text we will come to the realization that this sermon could have been titled, “God’s Time Is Not Our Time.

But because of the reality of what is going on in the world today, and the conversations I overhear at work and on the street’s, the Holy Spirit laid on my heart to let everyone know that God Has Not Forgot.

How many of us have heard people ask, how could a loving and Holy God with all power in his hands allow someone to go inside a church an kill people they did not even know?

How could a Holy God who’s eyes are to pure to look upon Sin, allow children to be slaughtered like animals?

Or maybe we have asked these questions ourselves in our thoughts?

In the following verses you will see that this question has been asked before and God has supplied an answer, not necessarily of logic or rationale but of comfort and assurance.

I. God commands his response to be written:

hab 2-

God is telling the prophet to write down what I am about to tell you so that those who read it can go and spread the word about what it is I am about to tell you.

Habakkuk is not the only one who has cried to God about the atrocities and unjust prosperity of those perpetrating these crimes against God’s people.

Next is where we find out that God’s time is not ours

God reveals only a teaser of the final revelation:

Hab 2:

The revelation of my plan is not ready to be released yet.

My people are not ready, nor would they understand, but it is coming!

We know the old saying, He may not come when you want but he is always on time.

The text says it may seem like it is taking forever, but it will not be late.

God knows the hearts of the wicked:

Hab 2:5

Here the sovereign and omniscient God is giving examples of what is going on and that he has not turned a blind eye.

The evil-doers will continue to collect nations, wealth, and be guided by their ego instead of being obedient and putting God first.

The evil-doers will be guided by greed and ego but the righteous will be guided by his faith

Our victory lies in our faith!

God is telling us that the righteous must persevere and be strong in faith that he will avenge those who obey him.

When God speaks it is a fact!

We have never seen an instance in scripture where God did not come through for his people and although we do not understand why the things mentioned earlier are allowed to happen, we are still his children.

He said that there are appointed times for revelation, the impending coming of Jesus, and the destruction of those that do evil.

And that is a fact.

Conclusion:

We have a tendency to forget that God has proven himself throughout biblical history and throughout our own lives.

God has not forgot, but he want’s us to remember that:

His promises will be fulfilled!

Our victory lies in our faith!

When God speaks it is a fact!

We are human and the Almighty understands this.

It is natural for us to question when we see such bad things happen.

He has already revealed the outcome to us, which is why I am not worried because I have read the book, and I know the ending.

I have faith that when I meet the Lord, some of this will be explained as to why it was allowed to happen, but then again, it may not even matter, and I may not need to know.

But what I do know is that God’s plan is perfect.

And when you begin to become concerned about the atrocities in this world and ask the question why, remember his promises will be fullfiled, our victory is in our faith, when God speaks it is a fact, and that old hymn that says, “We Will Understand It Better Bye and Bye”.
