Why the reminder
Be strong and courageous x3!
Because we are Frightened and Dismayed
Dismayed= shaking in your boots
The enemy will look intimidating.
We’re blind to the enemy...
Worried for the evangelical church.
So what does Joshua need to do?
Be strong and very courageous to keep the Word in front of you!
How to take over?
This is how you’re going to achieve success!
It’s already yours, you just have to go and get it.
Swords and chariots?
Where you go, you will go with the victory in hand.
The whole universe
How to take over?
Swords and chariots?
I will be with you
Why when it’s already been given to them? Because even walking through the land may be too much work.
Why when it’s already been given to them? Because even walking through the land may be too much work.
We’re blind to the enemy...
Worried for the evangelical church.
How will they win?
With God’s presence.
Quote about Fears:
The NIV Application Commentary: Joshua Joshua’s Commissioning (vv. 2–9)
The danger is that fears, feelings of inadequacy, and doubts may cripple the leader’s resolve, muddle his mind, and shake his confidence. The resulting confusion, wavering, and tentativeness sow despair, if not dissent, among the followers and endanger the mission. The temptation, then, is to back off from risks, to strike compromises, or to retreat altogether. To “be strong and courageous” means to be steady, resolute, bold, and unafraid.

6 Be strong and courageous, for you shall cause this people to inherit the land that I swore to their fathers to give them. 7 Only be strong and very courageous, being careful to do according to all the law that Moses my servant commanded you. Do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may have good success wherever you go. 8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

b. Be strong and courageous
for you shall cause this people to inherit the land that I swore to their fathers to give them.
Only be strong and very courageous,
being careful to do according to all the law that Moses my servant commanded you. Do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may have good success wherever you go.
Do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may have good success wherever you go.
This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but
you shall meditate on it day and night,
but you shall meditate on it day and night,
so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. 9 Have I not commanded you?
Be strong and courageous.
Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the
Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Why do we live in fear?
Why do we live in fear of failure?
Why do we live in fear of being successful?
