GOD’S WILL AND DAILY PROVISION

Matthew 6:9–13 KJV 1900
9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

INTRODUCTION:

So far in this series, I have told you that there is a right & wrong way to pray.
I also said that prayer isn’t about informing God of our needs b/c He already knows our needs before we ask.
I mentioned also that prayer is about having a relationship with God the Father rather than just getting our needs met.
In the Lord’s prayer, we see that before we ever ask for anything for ourselves the focus is on God.
Your Name
Your kingdom
Your will
From this, we can see that prayer isn’t all about us & our selfish motives & desires.
In other words, we can’t ask for anything we want & expect God to answer.
James 4:3 KJV 1900
3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.
- Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. The Living Bible reads, "And even when you do ask you don’t get it because your whole aim is wrong—you want only what will give you pleasure."However, when our praying lines up with God’s will…He will answer our prayer with a yes.

The Living Bible reads, "And even when you do ask you don’t get it because your whole aim is wrong—you want only what will give you pleasure."

However, when our praying lines up with God’s will…He will answer our prayer with a yes.

1) GOD'S WILL ON EARTH AS IN HEAVEN

Matthew 6:10 KJV 1900
10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
matt 6:10
Robert Law said “Prayer is a mighty instrument, not for getting man’s will done in heaven, but for getting God’s will done in earth.”
1. Another purpose of prayer is to glorify God’s name, and to ask for help to accomplish His will on earth.
2. Therefore, we have no right to ask God for anything that will dishonor His name, delay His kingdom, or disturb His will on earth.
3. So what is God’s will?
A. God’s Decreed Will
There is one sense in which God has determined some things in advance. These things will be accomplished and nothing can hinder it, stop it, or sidetrack it.For example – Jesus is coming back, Satan will be dealt with, events in Book of Revelation unfolding – These things will happen & no one can change it.
B. God’s Desired Will
Unlike God’s decreed will, there are things that God desires that may not come to pass.In other words, there are things that God would like to see happen but they may not always happen.
– The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
2 Peter 3:9 KJV 1900
9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
God desires that all come to repentance but not everyone will.
God desires that all come to repentance but not everyone will.
4. Now this is just a little information concerning the will of God.
There is a sense in which God’s purposes will be done and cannot be thwarted…but there is also a sense in which God’s desires are not always accomplished.
5. Now, this verse tells us that God’s perfect will is being done in Heaven and that we are to pray that His will might be carried out to the same degree on the earth.
6. So how do we pray according to God’s will? How do we pray for God’s will to be done?
We have to pray according to the Word of God.
The Word of God reveals the Will of God.
Find out what God’s Word says & pray in line with that.
1 John 5:14–15 KJV 1900
14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: 15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
Application
1. God wants to save people so pray for opportunities to witness & share the gospel.
2. Pray to be led by the HS.
3. Pray for confidence & boldness to carry out the tasks that God would give you.
4. Pray for God’s power & anointing to be upon your life.

2) DAILY BREAD

Matthew 6:11 KJV 1900
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
;
1. Now we come to a time of requesting, where the focus is specifically on our needs.
NOTE: God wants to meet our needs.
In fact, He has promised to meet our needs.
-But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:19 KJV 1900
19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
2. So, as we look at this simple prayer there are a few things that you need to understand about praying for your needs.
2. So, as we look at this simple prayer there are a few things that you need to understand about praying for your needs.
A. You Need to Believe in God’s Power
When you ask God to meet your needs, you need to believe that He is able to meet those needs…or else your praying will not be effective.
NOTE: If you don’t believe in God’s power to meet your need, why waste time praying.
The only prayer that is effective is the prayer of faith…and if you don’t believe that He can & will meet your need, you are not going to get anywhere praying.
B. You Need to Believe in God’s Promises
When you make your requests of God, you need to believe that God wants to bless you & take care of you.
You need to know that God has promised in His Word to give you what you need.
C. You Need to Believe in God’s Personality
When we ask God for the daily needs of life, we aren’t trying to twist His arm to get Him to give us things that He doesn’t want us to have.
We aren’t trying to overcome His reluctance to meet our needs.
We are merely laying hold on His provision.
We are humbly acknowledging His willingness to give.
NOTE: God is not a scrooge who has to be persuaded to meet our needs.
He is our Father and He delights in giving us the good things of life.
– Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
Luke 12:32 KJV 1900
32 Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
NOTE: We don’t have to approach God like a beggar looking for a handout.
NOTE: We don’t have to approach God like a beggar looking for a handout.
We can approach Him with confidence.
We don’t have to fear being rejected or turned away.
We have the right & privilege to approach Him in prayer & ask for our needs to be met.
– Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
Hebrews 4:16 KJV 1900
16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
NOTE: But in all honesty – how many of us actually approach God like He wants to move in our lives?
NOTE: But in all honesty – how many of us actually approach God like He wants to move in our lives?
In all honesty, we often approach God like He’s mad at us & out to get us.
We act like God doesn’t want to do anything good for us so we’re afraid to ask Him for anything.
We come to God feeling guilty & unworthy & not deserving enough to ask Him for anything.
But through JC, we are worthy to approach the Father.
Through Jesus, we can go to the Father & make our requests of Him.
3. How do we pray about our needs?
A. Pray according to God’s Will

1 John 5:14–15 KJV 1900
14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: 15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: 15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
NOTE: You can’t pray outside of God’s will & get your needs met.
NOTE: You can’t pray outside of God’s will & get your needs met.
B. Pray in Faith
Mark 11:24 KJV 1900
24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
– Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
Matthew 21:22 KJV 1900
22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.
– And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.
– And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.
NOTE: Praying alone does not work…You must pray in faith.
NOTE: Praying alone does not work…You must pray in faith.
God responds to faith…not need.
James 5:14–15 KJV 1900
14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: 15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
 - Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: 15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
NOTE: You have to believe that God heard & answered when you prayed.
NOTE: You have to believe that God heard & answered when you prayed.
Even though may not see the answer immediately you MUST BELIEVE that your prayer WAS ANSWERED.
In other words, you have to believe it before you see it.
You have to believe you’re healed before the healing manifests in your body.
You have to believe the need is met before the provision ever shows up in your hand.
And you need to thank God that the need is ALREADY MET.
THANK HIM THAT YOU’RE ALREADY HEALED…ALREADY BLESSED…THAT THE SITUATION IS ALREADY TURNING AROUND.
NOTE: If you can believe God for salvation, you should be able to believe God for anything else that you need.
Healing, provision, or anything else you need comes the same way as salvation…by faith.
2 Corinthians 5:7 KJV 1900
7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)
Hebrews 11:6 KJV 1900
6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
NOTE: Everything we do as believers is by faith.
We are saved by grace through faith.
We live by faith.
We worship by faith.
We pray in faith.
We please God by faith.
We are justified by faith.
We have access by faith.
NOTE: The Christian life is a life of faith...Therefore, if you aren't living by faith - Can you call yourself a Christian?
If you are a believer, are you actively believing & living out your faith?
C. Pray Specifically
Ask your heavenly Father for exactly what you need.
Don’t be vague or general – Be specific.
And remember prayer isn’t about informing God of your need – He already knows.
Matthew 7:7–8 KJV 1900
7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: 8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
Example: $100 light bill
Example: $100 light bill
D. Pray with Thanksgiving
– “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
Philippians 4:6 KJV 1900
6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
Paul says offer your prayers & make your requests known with thanksgiving.
Paul says offer your prayers & make your requests known with thanksgiving.
NOTE: We ought to spend at least as much time thanking God as do we asking God.
But do we? Probably not.
The harsh reality is this - we can be very ungrateful for what God has done for us.
I don't think it's intentional, but we tend to be very forgetful of what God has done for us.
And if we're going to pray effectively, we have to recall & remember what He has done...and thank Him before we start asking Him to do more for us.
NOTE: If we're going to receive from God we have to enter into His presence...and the bible says - "enter into His presence with thanksgiving..."
You can't rush into His presence, make your requests...rush out & then think that something powerful will happen in your life.
I'm not talking about making prayer long.
NOTE: Long praying isn't the key to powerful praying...but I believe Grateful Praying is a key to Powerful Praying.

CONCLUSION:

1. I want to encourage you to go to the Father and tell Him about the needs that you have in your life.
2. You don't ever have to be afraid or ashamed to approach Him...and you never have to limit your praying to "big needs & problems."
3. You can take EVERYTHING to Him in prayer.
Jeremiah 33:3 KJV 1900
3 Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.
- Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.
 - And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.  14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
 - And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.  14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
John 14:13–14 KJV 1900
13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
