The Glory of God
The Glory of God
· Latter Days – indicates a “future time” where God will reign over the world and rid the existence of sin and evil.
o “In that day”: see ,, ,
o We are in the Messianic times but not fully (yet)
It shall come to pass in the latter days
that the mountain of the house of the Lord
shall be established as the highest of the mountains,
and shall be lifted up above the hills;
and all the nations shall flow to it,
Mountain of the house of the Lord…
o This is talking about Jerusalem (holy temple)?
§ Plenty in scripture about role of Jerusalem in the end times.
§ God will protect Jerusalem
§ Much of the end time events take place IN Jerusalem.
o Jerusalem represents God
§ House of God
It shall come to pass in the latter days
that the mountain of the house of the Lord
shall be established as the highest of the mountains,
and shall be lifted up above the hills;
and all the nations shall flow to it,
Shall be established as the highest of the mountains
o “Other mountains” – other false gods, religions
This is not about Jerusalem – It’s about Christ.
§ – we will not worship God in a “place”
§ – the new Jerusalem comes down
It shall come to pass in the latter days
that the mountain of the house of the Lord
shall be established as the highest of the mountains,
and shall be lifted up above the hills;
and all the nations shall flow to it,
All nations shall flow to it…
o God’s plan has always been to include gentiles
o One day all nations (Jew/ Gentile) will be drawn to Christ
The Truth of God
The Truth of God
· These “Latter Days” will be marked by a different religious world view than today
and many peoples shall come, and say:
“Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,
to the house of the God of Jacob,
that he may teach us his ways
and that we may walk in his paths.”
For out of Zion shall go forth the law,
and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
o Many People will go to God that:
§ 1. He may teach us His ways
§ 2. We may walk in His paths
o (Unlike today) Wide spread acknowledgement of God as Truth
and many peoples shall come, and say:
“Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,
to the house of the God of Jacob,
that he may teach us his ways
and that we may walk in his paths.”
For out of Zion shall go forth the law,
and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
· Out of Zion shall go the law
o God will be the source of truth
o Not the multitude of false truth we have to deal with today
The Everlasting Peace of God
The Everlasting Peace of God
· He shall judge between the nations
· And (He) shall decide disputes
o In contrast to man deciding as they do today.
He shall judge between the nations,
and shall decide disputes for many peoples;
and they shall beat their swords into plowshares,
and their spears into pruning hooks;
nation shall not lift up sword against nation,
neither shall they learn war anymore.
· They shall beat their swords into ploughshares and their spears into pruning hooks
The result of such perfect judgment will be everlasting peace
The result of such perfect judgment will be everlasting peace
o Instead of war deciding the victor (like) today.
· Nation shall not lift up sword against nation neither shall they learn war anymore
o Peace will be so absolute, there will not be a need to even learn about war.
O house of Jacob,
come, let us walk
in the light of the Lord.
Isaiah calls on his people to turn from the world and to the Lord. (He is after all the ultimate victor)
and many peoples shall come, and say:
“Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,
to the house of the God of Jacob,
that he may teach us his ways
and that we may walk in his paths.”
For out of Zion shall go forth the law,
and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
The world may seem to have great ideas about how to live well, but God alone has the answers to life because God alone controls the future
