The BitterSweet Message of the Gospel
The BitterSweet Message of the Gospel
We Need a Fresh Vision of God’s Control and Rule
We Need a Fresh Vision of God’s Control and Rule
When John needs a break, God gives a vision of the Authority and Truthfulness of His word, and recommissions John to Preach to everyone.
Trust in the Powerful, Proven, and Proclaimed Word of God will always renew our vision of God’s control and Rule over HIs creation.
3 reasons God gives us His word when we need a break: We need a vision of the Authority God’s Word brings, a vision of the truth it reveals, and we need to be reminded to proclaim its Good News.
We Must Trust the Authority of God’s Word
We Must Trust the Authority of God’s Word
God’s word renews our vision of God’s sovereignty, by sending us His word
He lays the beams of His upper chambers in the waters;
He makes the clouds His chariot;
He walks upon the wings of the wind;
They will walk after the Lord,
He will roar like a lion;
Indeed He will roar
And His sons will come trembling from the west.
We Must Trust the Validity of God’s Word
We Must Trust the Validity of God’s Word
God’s Word proves trustworthy, so we swear by it, an watch it prove true.
We must Take it.
we must Feed on it.
We must preach it.
They will walk after the Lord,
He will roar like a lion;
Indeed He will roar
And His sons will come trembling from the west.
For thus says the Lord to me,
“As the lion or the young lion growls over his prey,
Against which a band of shepherds is called out,
And he will not be terrified at their voice nor disturbed at their noise,
So will the Lord of hosts come down to wage war on Mount Zion and on its hill.”
So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth;
It will not return to Me empty,
Without accomplishing what I desire,
And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.
The Mystery of God refers to God’ plan to judge evil, redeem His people, and restore His creation (Scott Duvall, Revelation 144).
The mystery of God is concealed in the OT and revealed in the NT.

“The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our sons forever, that we may observe all the words of this law.
Surely the Lord God does nothing
Unless He reveals His secret counsel
To His servants the prophets.
We Learn to Trust the Authority and Validity, by Depending on it.

This is not a suggestion. God commands us tot revisit His call on our lives. 3 applications for receiving a fresh vision our God’s control and rule in a world going to hell. We must use it or we will lose it. We will lose our vision of God, If we do not depend on His word.
We must Take it.
we must Feed on it.
We must preach it.
John is called to “revisit his call to be a faithful witness like the prophets of old” (Duvall, Revelation, 145). Likewise we are recommissioned to be faithful witnesses to Christ Jesus. God’s word gives witness to the Authority, Trustworthiness, and Vindication of Christ Jesus.
John needs a break from the horror of hell on earth. God gives John a fresh vision of his control, reassures John of his promises, and recommissions John so he can endure to the end.
Our Response to hell on earth should be to tell others that God wins.
