Dispelling a lie
Dispelling a lie
I have heard many Christians say that miracles only happened while Jesus was here with us, that is walking on this earth. I have heard many Christians say that spiritual gifts were only for a season.
This think is fake news. Jesus said in "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. 13 And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask anything in My name, I will do it."
If I said it once, I said it at least a thousand times, God is not a man, that He should lie,
Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?()And Jesus is the son of God whom the Father is well pleased. ()
Where is the proof? Here in scripture, it is recorded in Acts Chapter 3:1-10 that Peter healed a lame man that was sitting at the gate Beautiful. The story tells us that the man was in need. He was lame from birth therefore unable to make a living like most men of this era. This man who has no name was begging for money so to care for his needs. This man looked at every one who passed by for assistance. His look was only temporary depending if their was money offered from the passer bye-rs. His only interest was money. Often people who are going through have limited vision of their deliverance. They look at the here and know, what one can do for them know. Were not a patient people.
So Peter did what he needed to do to grasp this man's attention. He called out to the lame man, "Look at us!". I'm sure you've seen people asking for alms/money before. The only way you can get their attention is by presenting them with their need and then their attention is gone.
I'm sure when Peter said "Look at us", it wasn't with a whisper, but with a forceful tone of voice. He said "Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk. And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength" (Acts 3:6-7)
This scripture further tells us that the man got up and walked into the with them, leaping and praising God. A miracle after Jesus was crucified.
Further proof that there are still miracles happening after the crucifixion of Christ. Let's look beyond what is written in scripture. Let us remember that miracles defies rational explanation. In July of 2013, Fox New did a story on Morgan Lake who was driving across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge in Maryland. She was hit by a truck and her car fell 40 feet into the water and she survived. Morgan was trapped in the car, the air bags deployed and the windows were closed, here hand were trapped and the seat belt was jammed. But as she prayed, God gave her strength to unjam her seat belt and to get out of the car. God's strength allowed he to swim to the surface and to cling to the slippery rocks where others where able to assist her.
In 2015, four police officers while in search for another car that ran off the rode into the Spanish Fork River in Utah; they heard an unexplained voice calling from the submerged car with an 18 month old baby inside. The baby had been in here car seat in the frigid water for at least 12 hours. An 18 month old child couldn't have given them directions as to where he was. It was unexplained by natural evidence as to the voice, but the police officers believe it was the voice of God that was leading them to the child.
There are many books and written records of present day miracles from God. You may have experienced a few of these, however didn't contribute them to God but science.
This is proof that God is till in the miracle business. But there is a purpose to all of his miracles.
Drawing attention
Drawing attention
After Peter and John healed the man that was lame from birth, "all the people ran together to them in the porch which is called Solomon’s, greatly amazed" ()
This miracle drawn the attention of the people who where entering into the temple.
The people were looking at Peter and John as if they were the one's with power that healed this lame man. They were looking for help for their personal situation. They were looking for some one to solve their problems not knowing that our solutions are within us as we pray to God. Jesus said in "And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask anything in My name, I will do it".
So while Peter had the attentions of the crowd, he delivered unto them a living word, the word of God.
He said "The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, glorified His Servant Jesus, whom you delivered up and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let Him go. 14 But you denied the Holy One and the Just, and asked for a murderer to be granted to you, 15 and killed the Prince of life, whom God raised from the dead, of which we are witnesses. 16 And His name, through faith in His name, has made this man strong, whom you see and know. Yes, the faith which comes through Him has given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.
17 “Yet now, brethren, I know that you did it in ignorance, as did also your rulers. 18 But those things which God foretold by the mouth of all His prophets, that the Christ would suffer, He has thus fulfilled. 19 Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord" (vs.13-19)
Peter took the time to minister the gospel to those where were seeking. Not unlike the miracle that happened to Morgan lake or that which occured to the 18 month old baby, the gospel was preached, the miracle power of the cross was proclaimed.
What Peter proclaimed was hard for the people to accept. No one wants to hear that our unwanted situations are because of our decisions. No one really wants to take the blame for our own mistakes. It is easier to blame some one else for our conditions. But regardless of our conditions we can change our faith by believing in Jesus Christ as our Savior, by tapping into the eternal power that is availed to all that believe in the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God that sent his only begotten son Jesus Christ to die upon a cross for our sins, we can tap into this eternal power because God sent the Holy Spirit who will help us and always be with us as we go through our situations.
Peter told them the way out of their conditions. He told them how to receive deliverance from what ales them. He said "Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord" (vs. 19).
To obtain these modern day miracles of Christ, it starts with you. It starts with you confession, your belief in Jesus Christ as your Savior, with your confession that you have not followed the commandments of God, it starts with your repentance.
Momma can't do it for you, grand momma can't do it for you. They didn't sin against God but you did. They can only pray that your mind will be delivered so that you can confess with your mouth, so that you can receive salvation for yourself.
So what happens after the resurrection, miracles still happen, salvation still happens, repentance still happens, greater things then Jesus has ever done shall happen after the resurrection.
But it all begins with us.
Business is not as usual, the wisdom, power and love of our awesome God has been bestowed upon us. We should grow in Christ much more than our parents have because we are connected to the root of Jessie.
Miracles greater that that of Christ should manifest daily because of the good soil we are planted in.
