Facing the Giant

1 Samuel 17:1-11

Intro:                   We pick up the story of the young man son of Jesse David facing the Giant from the Philistines, Goliath. Many around David had their doubts, in the boy. However, King Saul puts all his trust in this young man. You even find the King giving the boy his bigger then life armor. Then we find this young fighter of the Giant doing something own a young man would do according to those around him. He goes to the river and picks up some small stones. He will use these to face the Giant. To those around him this was sure a death warrant. This young sheepherder could chase some small animals with these small stones. However, small stones would not chase off the enemy of Israel. This was a Giant.

What David knew was that the stones or the size of the stones matter. All that mattered in this battle was his relationship with God!

David knew that the Giant did not feel he could be beat; this was true in the world that they lived in at the time. The problem was that the Giant was not thinking about the Lord.

Point: The giants we face like that one that David faced was not counting that the creator would show up.
