Review
Your life will be characterized by a dauntless courage for Christ
How we deny Christ
How we confess Christ
Today’s Lesson:
How do I keep Sanctified?(Growth in Grace)
How do I keep Sanctified?
1. Be absolute sincere.
Sincerity is being as genuine on the inside as we seem to be on the outside. Bill Gothard – sincerity is letting God shine thru our lives rather than covering them us.

I. Definition of Sincerity

  A. Sincere comes from the Latin word “sincerus”
    1. sine - without
    2. cere – wax
      a. Old world potters made clay pots that were inferior because the rocks were not sifted out. They filled holes with wax. Later over heat the wax would melt and fell out causing a hole.
      b. The good pots had written on them “sine cera” (without wax).
  B. Hebrew word for sincerity is “tamiyum”. It means without blemish, full, sound. Perfect.
  C. Greek word is “eilikrines”. “heile” the sun’s rays, “krino” – to judge
    1.- (NKJV)
9 And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment, 10 that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ, 11 being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.

II. The Heart of Sincerity

A. -
(NKJV)
61 Let your heart therefore be loyal to the Lord our God, to walk in His statutes and keep His commandments, as at this day.”
  B. (NKJV)
1 Amaziah was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Jehoaddan of Jerusalem. 2 And he did what was right in the sight of the Lord, but not with a loyal heart. we can make right decisions but not have a perfect heart towards God.
    1. Are we allowing things to interfere with our relationship with God? Are we putting things in front of our worship of Him?

III. The Reward of Sincerity

  A. (NKJV)
9 For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him. In this you have done foolishly; therefore from now on you shall have wars.” this is spoken to King Asa
    1. God looks for sincere and perfect hearts thru which to demonstrate his wisdom and power.
  B. (NKJV)
9 And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
  C.
(NKJV)
12 Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; 13 but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy.
1. God takes us thru fiery trials, which expose our blemishes and defects.
    2. God wants us to thank him during these trials because he wants to show us our weakness.

IV. The Opposite of Sincerity – Hypocrisy

Hypocrisy turns many from the Lord – (NKJV)
13 “But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut up the kingdom of heaven against men; for you neither go in yourselves, nor do you allow those who are entering to go in.
  A. “Hupokrites” an actor or pretender
    1. (NKJV)
27 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness.
Hypocrites performed religious religious acts to get the praise of men
  B. Root problem – whole heart is not devoted to the Lord
    1. (NKJV)
7 Hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy about you, saying: 8 ‘These people draw near to Me with their mouth, And honor Me with their lips, But their heart is far from Me.
2. (NKJV)
(NKJV)
23 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faith. These you ought to have done, without leaving the others undone.
Evaluation – are we the same on the outside as inside? Do we hide secret sins? Do we seek the Lord with our whole heart? Do others see Christ in us?
13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.
(NKJV)
22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.
Be absolute sincere
2. Complete coordination between your will and the will of God.
2. Complete coordination between your will and the will of God.
3. We must have “Plain determination”
