Introduction

Greetings...
From through God has always used multiple descriptions to define important thoughts.
There are 956 different names or titles given of God.
With the Bible this is no different.
Last month we looked at three different “names” or “descriptions” of the Bible; the Word of God, the Word of the Lord, and the Word of Life.
Today we will look at three more of the descriptions.
The Word of Truth
The Word of Righteousness
The Word of Faith
With this in mind let us examine our lesson for today.

The Word Of Truth

This description can be found three times in the New Testament.

We find it in...
Ephesians 1:13 ESV
13 In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit,
2 Timothy 2:15 ESV
15 Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.
James 1:18 ESV
18 Of his own will he brought us forth by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

The Bible is the Word of Truth.

Jesus said as much...
John 17:17 ESV
17 Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.
Jn

Summery

The point is the Bible can be trusted; it can be counted on; it is reliable.

The Word Of Righteousness

This description can be found only once in the New Testament.

We find it in the book of Hebrews.
Hebrews 5:13 ESV
13 for everyone who lives on milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, since he is a child.

The Bible is the Word of Righteousness.

The word righteousness means “upright” or “the moral requirement of God’s character.”
It’s interesting that the Bible is described as such in this passage because the focus of maturity in God’s Word is the ability to understand the difference between right and wrong.
Hebrews 5:14 ESV
14 But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil.

Summery

The Bible is the Word of Righteousness” because it teaches us how to create “God’s characteristics” in our lives.
Galatians 2:20 ESV
20 I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

The Word Of Faith

This description can be found only once in the New Testament.

We find it in the book of Romans.
Romans 10:8 ESV
8 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith that we proclaim);

The Bible is the Word of Faith.

It is what produces faith in us.
Romans 10:17 ESV
17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.
It is how we access the grace of God.
Ephesians 2:8 ESV
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,

Summery

The point is, faith or trust in God is established through the “mind of God” i.e. the Bible.

Conclusion

God, through His Word, typically uses many different phrases or words to describe important people or concepts.
It’s God’s way of defining, in human language, what He sees these ideas, as.
It’s up to us to search them out and learn from them.
Invitation
Isaiah 59:1–2 ESV
1 Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save, or his ear dull, that it cannot hear; 2 but your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you so that he does not hear.
Philippians 2:6–7 ESV
6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.
