Can you imagine being Peter and John in this moment?
Brought on trial before the Sanhedrin.
Remember the last time they had dealings with the rulers of Rome?
I bet they did....the last time they walked a road like this Jesus was sentenced to be crucified.
That had to be in the back of their minds.
After all, they had done a good thing for a needy person.
They were standing before the Sanhedrin for healing a crippled man.
Peter had already proclaimed the name of Jesus publically- 3:12-16
Peter seems to give a sarcastic answer to their question.
This is not just about physical healing- Peter connects the physical healing with salvation.
When it comes to the power of Jesus’ name it is either accept or reject
The only power Peter has is the power to honor the name of Jesus- where the power of healing comes from.
