God did through … in your midst,
Brothers, I may … to this day.
Being therefore a … oath to him
he would set one of his descendants on his throne, 31 he foresaw and spoke about the resurrection of the Christ, that he was not abandoned to Hades, nor did his flesh see corruption.
and of that we all are witnesses
For David did not ascend into the heavens, but he himself says, “ ‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at my right hand, Ac 34
Heb 11 And every priest stands daily at his service, offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins.
12 But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, 13 waiting from that time until his enemies should be made a footstool for his feet.
14 For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified.
15 And the Holy Spirit also bears witness to us; for after saying,
Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself
to the apostles’ teaching (text before text)
the fellowship (not eating like we think)
the breaking of bread(not meal time but the Eucharist)
the prayers (not be with so and so but earnest and thought out)
had all things in common (worked for one goal in unity being led by the Apostles)
they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need
day by day, attending the temple(no joke day by day)
together and breaking bread in their homes (communion in homes??? Yep)
received their food with glad and generous hearts (glad to receive their DAILY bread)
praising God and having favor with all the people (no gossip, slander, maligning, no self-serving demands but followed the church elders)
Who added to the number????
The Lord
How were they added????
By following and being devoted to the Apostle's teaching.
What makes us think we can have success divorced from the above list????
What makes us think we will have growth seeking our comforts over our guests needs????
When we make the church our little fiefdoms can you expect God to add to our number????
When we "retire" from the work of God or worse yet will not raise a finger how do you expect The Lord to add to our number?????
Do you want to see growth??
Stop looking at the natural state of the church and expect the Supernatural!
Stop playing Christian and be a Christian!
Stop playing church and be the church!
