Introduction
Introduction
Paul tells us the subject of the fallowing discussion is “the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him.”
Men smarter than me tell us that the two phrases are refrencing one event. It is talking about the rapture. Jesus returning in the clouds to begin the resurrection of the dead, and rapture His people

Don’t Be Disturbed
Don’t Be Disturbed
“Shaken” - blown around like chaff
“Troubled” (Gr. throeō) - frightened by surprise, jittery, on edge
When you’re in the same vicinity as Macey Westfall, you are “throeō”...
They were antsy, jumpy because they were thinking they had missed the rapture...
But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope.
For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.
For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep.
For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.
Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.
Therefore comfort one another with these words.
He did not want them to be fearful, but faith-filled
The best way to avoid that is to know the scriptures
He says, Don’t be disturbed...

“by spirit”
Some commentators think this refers to demons, but I think it is referring to feelings and emotions

“as if from us” - was there someone impersonating the apostles?
Satan hates the kingdom of God. He hates you! He want’s to ruin us.
One way he does this is by trying to pervert the truth of Scripture and to upset our faith

“The day of Christ” - The time of judgement
“The day of Christ” - The time of judgement
The Day of the Lord is always a reference to a time of judgment. In this particular context it is talking about the tribulation that will come upon the earth that will last 7 years and culminate in the Second Coming of Jesus to earth.
He comforts their hearts, now he will correct the false doctrine: Vs. 3 “Let no one deceive you by any means.”

Don’t Be Deceived
He tells them that they have not missed the rapture and the Day of the Lord has not come because before that happens three things must take place: The falling away, the arrival of the Antichrist, and the Rapture its self
