What does the Bible say about the LGBTQ issue?

World normalizes LGBTQ, but it’s damaged
What does the Bible say about the LGBTQ issue?

Body

What LGBTQ stands for
We need a good foundation: Made in the image of God
Genesis 1:26–27 ESV
Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.
Is God sexual since humans are sexual?
Is God anti sex or anti passion?
Sex created for image bearers to enjoy the special union of a man and a woman—an unlikely union—into ONE.
Why?
Reflects who God is—Trinity
Sexuality in humanity was designed to reflect the unbreakable unity of God.
Father enjoys the Son, Son -> Father, Spirit -> Father and Son
Since God is good, everything that is the MOST LIKE HIM is GOOD.
Genesis 2:24 ESV
Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.
What are the most painful things in life?
Divorce—breaking of union, promises, insecurity
Betrayal—mutual promise of security
LGBTQ?
Adultery—their love wasn’t real, they found something better
Distortion of what is good.
Drop your phone—it works, but is malfunctional
Deceit—truth isn’t good enough, so I’ll
How did it come to this?
Romans 1:18 ESV
For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth.
When it’s what you feel vs. what is true, what will you choose?
Romans 1:21 ESV
For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened.
Wrong thinking = meaningless values. Heart changed by world = foolish heart
Romans 1:24–25 ESV
Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.
Worship of creature or creation = impurity, defilement, and “anything goes”
Rom 1:
Romans 1:26–28 ESV
For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error. And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done.
Rom 1:
Worship of creation = feelings define truth
God sees this? “Fine, you’ll see”
Just because something feels good… is it good? Smelling gasoline. Meth. Even hate and putting someone down. Stealing. Feel good?
Sex meant between one man and one woman in a holy marriage dedicated to God.
Not dedicated to God
Not a life-long marriage
Doesn’t have to be in marriage—sleeping around
Doesn’t have to be with one exclusive person of the opposite sex
Doesn’t have to be a person of the opposite sex—LGBTQ
Bible makes mention many times in OT and NT
Deuteronomy 22:5 ESV
“A woman shall not wear a man’s garment, nor shall a man put on a woman’s cloak, for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord your God.
Leviticus 20:13 ESV
If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them.
Lev
Another NT Reference with a twist:
1 Corinthians 6:9–10 ESV
Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
LGBTQ is just like any type of sin. An action motivated by thoughts or emotions that don’t align with what God wants
1 Corinthians 6:11 ESV
And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
Jesus can redeem, heal, and forgive!
No promise someone won’t be tempted here on earth. Promise of freedom, purity, life, etc.

Questions

Why is the LGBTQ topic so hard to discuss nowadays?
Is love a choice, according to the world? Is love a choice, according to the Bible? ()
Why do you think Divorce happens? Is it because someone didn’t find the right partner, or because one or both parties are not willing to obey Scripture and “love” one another? ( — same passage previously mentioned)
Is love a choice, according to the world? Is love a choice, according to the Bible? ()
Since the world doesn’t trust Scripture, where does it draw the line in regards to sexuality—at what point does any type of sexual expression become wrong? (examples: polygamy, bestiality, pedophilia. This topic is a hard one depending on the age; feel free to be discreet or skip if needed)
How can do you think we can share the Gospel with someone who is LGBTQ? ( and )
Look at . Why should a Christian (regardless of their their attraction to others) flee from sexual immorality? Is God trying to control Christians?

If you’re not sure what to feel and you can’t talk about it, I invite you to Question the LGBT movement.
World says explore and figure it out. I say don’t mistreat your phone! Don’t throw it without it’s protective casing. I say don’t mistreat your phone! Don’t throw it without it’s protective casing.
Proverbs 5:18 ESV
Let your fountain be blessed, and rejoice in the wife of your youth,
Don’t need to explore any further
Question the LGBT movement—is it really good for you? Bible says no. World says yes. Who will you trust when your feelings don’t align?
Prepare to pay the price.
Texas is conservative—Most world is not
Matthew 10:22 ESV
and you will be hated by all for my name’s sake. But the one who endures to the end will be saved.
Let us respond in grace with truth
Prayer—Grace from God to obey, grace to share the Gospel, grace to finish strong. Amen.
