THE HUMOR OF GOD
I grew up as a young man despising why my parents are pastors… with my simple mind and logic, I have one person to blame… it was God...
But the answer of God to me is crazy...
William, tinatawag din kitang maging pastor...
reflecting on it, I struggled with that call… trying to remember my high school days…
It was almost at the same season… I am asking God why my are parents are pastors, and God’s answer to me is that, He is calling me to a pastor...
My point is: there are many times that we don’t understand the ways of God… it defies our own logic… our own ways...
We pastors preached about the goodness and faithfulness of God… But I will be honest, there are times that it is hard to explain these in the midst of many difficulties in life...
That’s what we can see in the Book of Habakkuk.
Hab
Habakkuk 1:2–4 ESV
O Lord, how long shall I cry for help, and you will not hear? Or cry to you “Violence!” and you will not save? Why do you make me see iniquity, and why do you idly look at wrong? Destruction and violence are before me; strife and contention arise. So the law is paralyzed, and justice never goes forth. For the wicked surround the righteous; so justice goes forth perverted.
3Bakit puro kaguluhan at kasamaan
ang ipinapakita mo sa akin?
Sa magkabi-kabila'y nagaganap ang pagwasak at ang karahasan;
GOD’S ANSWER TO HABAKKUK IS SOMETHING HE DID NOT EXPECT
Habakkuk 1:5–6 ESV
“Look among the nations, and see; wonder and be astounded. For I am doing a work in your days that you would not believe if told. For behold, I am raising up the Chaldeans, that bitter and hasty nation, who march through the breadth of the earth, to seize dwellings not their own.
Hab 1:5-
Habakkuk’s Complains
Haba 1
Habakkuk 1:12–13 ESV
Are you not from everlasting, O Lord my God, my Holy One? We shall not die. O Lord, you have ordained them as a judgment, and you, O Rock, have established them for reproof. You who are of purer eyes than to see evil and cannot look at wrong, why do you idly look at traitors and remain silent when the wicked swallows up the man more righteous than he?
12O Yahweh, kayo ay Diyos na walang hanggan.
Kayo ang aking Diyos, banal at magpakailanman.
O Yahweh, aking Diyos at tanggulan,
O Batong matibay, inilagay mo sila upang kami'y pahirapan,
upang kami'y parusahan.
Few notes!
The prophet of God complained and brought his anguish to God...
Not to man…
God allowed Habakkuk to voice out his thoughts...
Hindi sya tinamaan ng kidlat...
God already knows what is in our hearts
The prophet of God came with anguish but with reverence to God
12O Yahweh, kayo ay Diyos na walang hanggan.
Kayo ang aking Diyos, banal at magpakailanman.
O Yahweh, aking Diyos at tanggulan, -
Habakkuk 2:1 ESV
I will take my stand at my watchpost and station myself on the tower, and look out to see what he will say to me, and what I will answer concerning my complaint.

The answer to all complaints and questions to God!

Handling of camps
Weird stuff...
Weirdest camp… only 10 things...
“Obey first, before your complain”
Habakkuk 2:2–4 ESV
And the Lord answered me: “Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it. For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end—it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay. “Behold, his soul is puffed up; it is not upright within him, but the righteous shall live by his faith.
Haba 2:
BUT THE RIGHTEOUS WILL LIVE BY HIS FAITH!
Three times it was quoted in the New Testament!
“Moses gave Israel 613 commandments, David reduced them to 10, Isaiah to 2, but Habakkuk to one: the righteous shall live by his faith.”
Three times it was quoted in the New Testament!
Paul quoted the phrase in Romans and Galatians… where as students of the Bible, we study that it is in Romans and Galatians, we will find the core of Paul’s teachings...
It was quoted on Hebrews...
Paul admonished the infant churches that from first to last… the righteous lived by faith...
In Galatians, even though we live in a present evil age… the righteous lived by faith…
In Hebrews,
“Faith is being SURE of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see...”
In ch. 11, whatever were the circumstances of those mentioned and even not mentioned, they lived by faith...
Today, that is also our call and the challenge of God in our lives....
“ARE WE GOING TO LIVE BY FAITH?”
Yes, we have questions… we have complaints… we anguish… sometimes we are angry…
We may ask God some answers…I believe this is his response...
“THE RIGHTEOUS WILL LIVE BY FAITH!”
I am not sure how Habakkuk felt at that moment when God impressed it to Him...
Kasi pag ako po yun… “WOW, God… ang hirap nun!”
Last night, I phrased Mga Awit 30...
May proseso...
After a certain song… this is how he ends his book...
Habakkuk 3:17–19 ESV
Though the fig tree should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines, the produce of the olive fail and the fields yield no food, the flock be cut off from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will take joy in the God of my salvation. God, the Lord, is my strength; he makes my feet like the deer’s; he makes me tread on my high places. To the choirmaster: with stringed instruments.
