Guarding Your Heart
Proverb 4:20
says, Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life (NLT).
Why must we guard our heart?
Because your heart is extremely valuable.
We don’t guard worthless things.
I take my garbage to the street every Monday night.
It is picked up on Tuesday morning.
It sits on the sidewalk all night, completely unguarded.
Why?
Because it is worthless.
Not so with your heart.
It is the essence of who you are.
It is your authentic self—the core of your being.
It is where all your dreams, your desires, and your passions live.
It is that part of you that connects with God and other people.
Notice that it doesn't say somebody else will guard your heart.
It doesn't say God will guard your heart, your neighbor will guard your heart or your pastor will guard your heart.
It says you need to guard your heart.
This is why Solomon says, “Above all else.”
He doesn’t say, “If you get around to it” or “It would be nice if.” No, he says, make it your top priority.
Notice that it doesn't say somebody else will guard your heart.
It doesn't say God will guard your heart, your neighbour will guard your heart or your pastor will guard your heart.
It says you need to guard your heart.
Because your heart is the source of everything you do.
King Solomon says it is the “wellspring of life.” or “spring the issues of Life” In other words, it is the source of everything else in your life.
Your heart overflows into thoughts, words, and actions.
“The idea that we can think with our hearts is no longer just a metaphor, but is, in fact, a very real phenomenon.
We now know this because the combined research of two or three fields is proving that the heart is the major center of intelligence in human beings.”

Proverb 23:
So when the scripture says “as the man thinks in his heart so is he “ not only embraces whole mans being but its saying in essence of man is literally what he thinks.
So His or her Character being the complete sum of all his thoughts.
Thoughts are like a seeds that will produce its kind.
Every aspect to man springs forth by the seed of thought and couldn’t have appeared without it.
Genesis
Matthew 15:18
Because your heart is under constant attack.
Matthew 15:18-21
Because your heart is under constant attack.
Because your heart is under constant attack.
When Solomon says to guard your heart, he implies that you are living in a war zone—one in which there are casualties.
The Enemy uses all kinds of weapons to attack our heart.
These attacks often come in the form of some circumstance that leads to disappointment, discouragement, or even disillusionment.
In these situations, we are tempted to quit—to walk off the field and surrender.
Proverb 23:77
KJV 1900
7 For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; But his heart is not with thee.
You say you are a by product of your thoughts.
Or you can say we become what we think about.
Through out all history, teachers, philosophers, wiseman and prophets disagreed on many things but its only on this truth they all are anonymously in agreement.

Roman Emperor Markus Aurelius said this
“ A man’s life is what his thoughts make of it.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson famous Philosopher said this:
“ A man is what he thinks all day long”
James Allen another Philosopher said this
“The greatest discovery human kind made is they can alter their life if they alter their attitude on mind.”
Research from the National Science Foundation found that we have between 12000 and 60000 thoughts per day and that more than 80% of them are repeated daily.
We basically keep running the same script daily in our minds day after day and anchor or thoughts further into our destiny.

How you think daily will determine if you walk in victory or defeat, in love or fear, in health or sickness.

Heart / mind - very fertile land
You cannot think Negatively and manifest positive results

Many think thoughts can be kept secret but it cannot, it rapidly crystallises into habit and habits solidifies into circumstances.
Thi is what Jesus said:
Matthew
We are not only know this truth but also know that Our LORD empowers us to think higher, because we have the mind of Christ.
Numbers
We are not only know this truth but also know that Our LORD empowers us to think higher, because we have the mind of Christ.
Last we week I said do not let life speak louder than His word.

Let our thoughts be aligned to His thoughts
First we need to believe and know that we know His word never fails
Isaiah
Matthew
teaches us how to lift and maintain higher thought life and live victoriously:
Psalm 1 teaches us the secret to living victoriously:
“ The difference between the impossible and the possible is believing you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you”.
David was living with the thoughts of God in his mind, he could say “How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them!” ().
