Genesis 45:5 ESV
And now do not be distressed or angry with yourselves because you sold me here, for God sent me before you to preserve life.
Genesis 45:7 ESV
And God sent me before you to preserve for you a remnant on earth, and to keep alive for you many survivors.
Genesis 45:8 ESV
So it was not you who sent me here, but God. He has made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house and ruler over all the land of Egypt.
Unwarranted Hate from Brothers

The Fabric of Betrayal

Genesis 37:2 ESV
These are the generations of Jacob. Joseph, being seventeen years old, was pasturing the flock with his brothers. He was a boy with the sons of Bilhah and Zilpah, his father’s wives. And Joseph brought a bad report of them to their father.
Genesis 37:3 ESV
Now Israel loved Joseph more than any other of his sons, because he was the son of his old age. And he made him a robe of many colors.
Genesis 37:2 ESV
These are the generations of Jacob. Joseph, being seventeen years old, was pasturing the flock with his brothers. He was a boy with the sons of Bilhah and Zilpah, his father’s wives. And Joseph brought a bad report of them to their father.
Genesis 37:4 ESV
But when his brothers saw that their father loved him more than all his brothers, they hated him and could not speak peacefully to him.
Gen 37:
Gen
Born into betrayal
Betray
be•tray
[Middle English, from be- + trayen to betray, from Anglo-French trahir, from Latin tradere—more at TRAITOR] verb transitive 13th century
1: to lead astray especially: SEDUCE
2: to deliver to an enemy by treachery
3: to fail or desert especially in time of need 〈betrayed his family〉
fabric
2 a structure or framework, especially the walls, floor, and roof of a building.
the essential structure of something abstract: the fabric of society.
*When I say Fabric I am speaking more than just the cloth of his garment: But rather the very WEAVING, THE STRUCTURE ,THE FRAMEWORK OF FAVOR ITSELF.
If anyone could have gone through life with a chip on their shoulder it should have been Joseph: whose name means .May God add, he shall add: increasing
*We see this young man Joseph one of the sons of Israel. Joseph was the 11th of 12 sons, the first by Jacob’s favorite wife, Rachel. His name, “may he [the Lord] add,” was a part of Rachel’s prayer at his birth ().
* and Joseph brought unto his father their evil report.
*we can assume that Joseph was told to do so because the Father asked him to do it in verse 13
We don’t know what exactly Joseph was reporting about his brothers but we do know that it WAS A EVIL REPORT: None the less Joseph told on his bothers to his father
he acted not as a gossiping telltale, but as a “faithful steward” in reporting the scandalous conduct of his brethren.
But there are some of us who aint Joseph! Who aren’t under instruction from the Father or from the leader …You bringing back all reports, beware of those indivials who always got the latest & greatest HOT NEWS
One thing that I have learned in life is that no one likes a tattle tale…
Three may keep a secret, if two of them are dead. —BENJAMIN FRANKLIN, Poor Richard’s Almanac
Most of us can keep a secret. It’s the people we tell it to who can’t.
Daddy if you hand have shown favoritism they wouldn't have hated me like they did !!
The Brothers hated Joe because of what the father Did and didn't do.
*Joseph was Jacobs’s favorite son from his favorite wife.
*The love that Jacob had for Joseph caused him to make him a coat of many colors, “an ornamented tunic.” It marked the owner as the one whom the father intended to be the future leader of the household, an honor normally given to the firstborn son.
He Loved Him , He Favored Him and he was open with his love it was no secret and his brothers recognized that love
The Reasons of their Hatred
Genesis 37:4 ESV
But when his brothers saw that their father loved him more than all his brothers, they hated him and could not speak peacefully to him.
gen 37
Genesis 37:5 ESV
Now Joseph had a dream, and when he told it to his brothers they hated him even more.
Gen 37:
*BUT SOMETIMES THE FAVOR LOOKS LIKE FAILURE BECAUSE INTERTWINE IN THE FABRIC OF THE FAVOR…IS HATRED… IS JEALOUSY IS BACKBITING IT IS ENVY…IT IS STRIFE…SEE ITS MORE THAN JUST A COAT
*THEY ARE HIS BROTHERS BUT HATE IS PRESENT/ DON’T THAT SOUND LIKE THE CHURCH?
*We are all FAVORED/GRACED to be in the family to do something in the Body of Christ. *The book said that his brothers were the ones that hated him, those that were in the household,
*Some God has Graced to Preach…to Teach…to Sing…to Usher…to Cook…to work with the Children
* they hated him, and could not speak peaceably unto him.
*There are those that will hate you /despise you because of the favor because of the grace that God has given to you.
*I shouldn’t be upset with what it is that you do because God has given me something to do.
Genesis 37:11 ESV
And his brothers were jealous of him, but his father kept the saying in mind.
The Results of their Hatred
Genesis 37:18 ESV
They saw him from afar, and before he came near to them they conspired against him to kill him.
Genesis 37:19 ESV
They said to one another, “Here comes this dreamer.
Genesis 37:20 ESV
Come now, let us kill him and throw him into one of the pits. Then we will say that a fierce animal has devoured him, and we will see what will become of his dreams.”
Genesis 37:28 ESV
Then Midianite traders passed by. And they drew Joseph up and lifted him out of the pit, and sold him to the Ishmaelites for twenty shekels of silver. They took Joseph to Egypt.
Genesis 39:2 ESV
The Lord was with Joseph, and he became a successful man, and he was in the house of his Egyptian master.

The Assault of Betrayal

Gen 39:
Genesis 39:8 ESV
But he refused and said to his master’s wife, “Behold, because of me my master has no concern about anything in the house, and he has put everything that he has in my charge.
39:
Genesis 39:10 NLT
She kept putting pressure on Joseph day after day, but he refused to sleep with her, and he kept out of her way as much as possible.
Genesis 39:11 ESV
But one day, when he went into the house to do his work and none of the men of the house was there in the house,

And as soon as she saw that he had left his garment in her hand and had fled out of the house,

Genesis 39:18 ESV
But as soon as I lifted up my voice and cried, he left his garment beside me and fled out of the house.”
She flat out lied on that man : She said that He tried to rape her.
Have you ever been misrepresented, have you ever done all that you can to do what is right but it seems like the more you try to do seems like people just keep trying to keep you oppressed.
Genesis 39:20 ESV
And Joseph’s master took him and put him into the prison, the place where the king’s prisoners were confined, and he was there in prison.
Ge

God’s Secret Weapon

The fallen state of man causes the natural response of, “To be wronged is to return the wrong done to you.”
It is human nature to seek revenge.
By Adam's fall into sin, "human nature" became "corrupt", although it retains the image of God.
It’s human nature that if someone hits you, you hit them back.
If someone gossips and lies on you, you want to gossip back.
It is human nature to want to protect your reputation.
Genesis 50:20 ESV
As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today.
Matt 26:
Matthew 26:48 ESV
Now the betrayer had given them a sign, saying, “The one I will kiss is the man; seize him.”
Matthew 26:47 ESV
While he was still speaking, Judas came, one of the twelve, and with him a great crowd with swords and clubs, from the chief priests and the elders of the people.
Matt 26:
Matthew 26:49 ESV
And he came up to Jesus at once and said, “Greetings, Rabbi!” And he kissed him.
