Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;

Not ourselves

Follow God
But Paul gives us an illustration
This illustration is to help us understand how to follow God
“As dear children”
This illustration of the family of God is use throughout the Bible
But to learn from an illustration,
We need to think about the meaning
And the application
3 ways to follow God as dear children:
How do we follow as dear children?
1. Be born into God’s family

Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born? Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

How can you follow God as a dear child when you are not his child
Ye must be born again(Timiharule nayaa’ gari janmanai-parchha)
Born of the spirit
Born into the family of God
You need to receive salvation!
Do you want to follow God?
The first step is always salvation
Not good works
Not coming to church
Not dressing nicely
Not baptism
Ye must be born again!(Timiharule nayaa’ gari janmanai-parchha)
Put your faith in Jesus Christ alone
He will give you the free gift of salvation
He will make you his child
For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

To follow God as a dear child, we must first be born into His family

As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
Ra nayaa’ janmekaa baalak-haru-jhai bachanko bishuddha dudh-ko tirsanaa gara, ra yas-duaaraa timi-haru baddai jaao;
If we want to follow God as dear children,
We need to drink the milk of the word
We need to grow(badnu)
Without milk the small babies do not grow
When a small baby has trouble drinking milk
It is a serious problem!
This can cause other problems
The Baby can even die!
I say it often
Read your Bible! Read your Bible!
Why?
Because without reading and learning God’s Word
You will not grow!
You cannot follow God if you do not learn about Him
When you don’t read your Bible
You will remain in sin
You will remain in darkness
You will remain in ignorance(agyaanataa)
You will not grow
You cannot follow God!
Trust the Lord - be born again
Read your Bible! Grow in God’s Word!

In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.

Our works do not give us salvation
But they do show our salvation
They show our father
If I walk through the store, but walk away from my family
Stand 2 meters away
Ignore every command of my father
Do my own thing
People will not think I am in that family
When we sin, we do the works of the Satan
The father of unbelievers
The father of unbelief
When we do righteousness, we follow God our father
When we do righteousness, we follow God our father
Which father are you following?
When my son disobeys, he is not following as a dear child
When he obeys, he is!
Obey God!
Follow as a dear child:
Trust God
Learn His Law
Obey His Law
