We all have a family. We can't aviod them. So we might as well figure out how to live with them. We all want great families. Of course, it's easier said then done… and everyone has an opinion. Culture media, and even other families try to tell us who we should be and how we shoud do it. With so many voices attempting to shape our values, it can be difficult to stay on course and raise famiies that relflect what's most important to us. Whether you're a mom or a dad, a son or a daughter, aunt or uncle, gandma or grandpa, this series will help us all make sure that the people in our lives we call family are well-loved and well-led.

Proverbs 18:21 NLT
21 The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences.
This is not hyperbole. :-)
Average person speaks 16,000 words. We underestimate them… 60 page book. We are writing a book. We can become careless with our words.
Three or four words can cause damage....

26 If you claim to be religious but don’t control your tongue, you are fooling yourself, and your religion is worthless.
The hardest people to move towards God are our family members. They know our words.
Matthew 12:36–37 NLT

Jesus affirms that words are powerful. God SPOKE!

Why do we struggle? Jesus would say it is our heart...

Words of Death v/s Words of Life - I only do this around a couple of people.
Death or life? HEART?
A heart filled with...

forgiveness speaks gracious words
entitlement speaks complaining words
gratitude speaks uplifting words
guilt speaks harsh words
peace speaks tender words
rejection speaks resentful words
acceptance speaks kind words
grumbling speaks negative words

It’s a heart issue. We don’t need behavior modification (cuss jar)
The Solution:
Get a new heart.
The heart of the problem is I need a new heart.
Ezekiel 18:31 NLT
31 Put all your rebellion behind you, and find yourselves a new heart and a new spirit. For why should you die, O people of Israel?
God can give you a new heart! Ask God to forgive you.

2. Speak truth.
Speak it over my life.

19 Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry.
Question - are you willing to go there? What has happened to him? People are dying because of the words you have spoken. God will meet me there and turn my words of death and life.
Who do you need to ask to forgive you because of the words you have used?
Forgiveness is the fertilizing of life.
