The Promise

When our Lord Jesus Christ came upon the earth and was beheld as God in human flesh, that was to us the pledge of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit in us, for, as God dwelt in the human person of the Lord Jesus Christ, even so does the Spirit abide in our humanity. Our Lord’s life on earth was the picture of the Spirit’s indwelling. As he was anointed of the Spirit, even so are we in our measure. He ‘went about doing good’. He lived consecrated to God, loving the sons of men; thus will the Spirit of God within us cause us to live: we shall imitate the Christ of God through the Spirit of God. The death of Christ was the way by which the Spirit was enabled to come to sinful men. By his great sacrifice the stone is rolled away which once blocked the road.

‘’Tis through the purchase of his death,

Who hung upon the tree,

The Spirit is sent down to breathe

On such dry bones as we.’

The promise of the spirit to those gathered as Luke writes in this book to Theophilus.
Being assembled together as Jesus commands them/ not request or advise but command them to wait for the Promise of the Father.
I. The problem is impatience on our part… we are not willing to wait the way our Lord wants us too.
It is easy to get in a hurry and not let the Holy Spirit do His work
We do need a fresh anointing, a fresh breath breathed upon us from the Almighty God
I. We can all grow cold from time to time… we must get alone with God and get renewed
II. (NKJV) — 27 But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him.
III. What is anointing?
A. Anointing of Holy Spirit
Synopsis
“Anoint” means to set someone apart, to authorize and equip him or her for a task of spiritual importance. Jesus Christ is set apart by the work of the Holy Spirit for his ministry of preaching, healing and deliverance. The Holy Spirit sets Christians apart for their ministry in Christ’s name.

Conditions for the Empowerment to Come

They all had to be together
They had to wait
They had to trust

The Necessity of the Empowerment

Jesus explains that His Holy Spirit is needed for what? ...
For those who believe to become WITNESSES not only in Jerusalem Judea and Samaria but to all the world
Apart from the power of the Holy Spirit we are helpless to spread the Gospel and or do the work of Jesus
Jesus never leave us alone or on our own… He is clear that the power must come from Him or(His Spirit) Mathew 3:11  I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
The New King James Version. (1982). (). Nashville: Thomas Nelson.
Conclusion: When is the last time you remember the Holy Spirit working through you? What do we need to have in order for the Holy Spirit to move in us? Are we willing to come together to wait on the Holy Spirit to use us to be a witness in all the world or maybe even our own little world?
