On My holy hill of Zion.”

VS.3-5
They sing a new song: The promised new age of the Spirit has come!
And behold, the glory of the God of Israel came from the way of the east. His voice was like the sound of many waters; and the earth shone with His glory.
Sing to the Lord a new song,
And His praise from the ends of the earth,
You who go down to the sea, and all that is in it,
You coastlands and you inhabitants of them!
Rev. 1:
His feet were like fine brass, as if refined in a furnace, and His voice as the sound of many waters;
Sing to Him a new song;
Play skillfully with a shout of joy.
He has put a new song in my mouth—
Praise to our God;
Many will see it and fear,
And will trust in the Lord.
Oh, sing to the Lord a new song!
Sing to the Lord, all the earth.
Oh, sing to the Lord a new song!
For He has done marvelous things;
His right hand and His holy arm have gained Him the victory.
98:1
I will sing a new song to You, O God;
On a harp of ten strings I will sing praises to You,
Praise the Lord!
Sing to the Lord a new song,
And His praise in the assembly of saints.
The Revelation of John, Volume 2 The Finest Flower (Revelation 14:4a)
Revelation 14:4a
These are the ones who were not defiled with women, for they are virgins. These are the ones who follow the Lamb wherever He goes. These were redeemed from among men, being firstfruits to God and to the Lamb.

149:1
— John is NOT saying only those who are celibate are able to participate as part of the 144,000…it was a figure of speech.
— Celibacy is KEY outside of marriage…in marriage it is a beautiful thing ordained by God.
What John was trying to say here is that through the chaos that was the Tribulation, these people stayed pure and true towards God.
their testimony was largely from their moral purity
— Following the Lamb wherever He goes…speaks of discipleship and service.
— Why is discipleship and service important?
Characteristics of the followers of the Lamb:
They are a sacrifice to God and to the Lamb
No falsehood is found in their mouths.
They are without blemish.
Power and significance of speech
Synopsis
A person’s speech has an enormous influence for good or ill and is a sure guide to character.
The impact of speech
It has the power of life and death
;
(NKJV) — 21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.
(NKJV) — 1 My brethren, let not many of you become teachers, knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgment. 2 For we all stumble in many things. If anyone does not stumble in word, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body. 3 Indeed, we put bits in horses’ mouths that they may obey us, and we turn their whole body. 4 Look also at ships: although they are so large and are driven by fierce winds, they are turned by a very small rudder wherever the pilot desires. 5 Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things. See how great a forest a little fire kindles! 6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell. 7 For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and creature of the sea, is tamed and has been tamed by mankind. 8 But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. 9 With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God. 10 Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so. 11 Does a spring send forth fresh water and bitter from the same opening? 12 Can a fig tree, my brethren, bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Thus no spring yields both salt water and fresh.

(NKJV) — 2 The tongue of the wise uses knowledge rightly, But the mouth of fools pours forth foolishness.
(NKJV) — 4 A wholesome tongue is a tree of life, But perverseness in it breaks the spirit.
It can bring ruin or joy to the speaker
(NKJV) — 13 The wicked is ensnared by the transgression of his lips, But the righteous will come through trouble. 14 A man will be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth, And the recompense of a man’s hands will be rendered to him.
See also ; ; ; ; ; ; ;
(NKJV) — 9 “As for the head of those who surround me, Let the evil of their lips cover them;
(NKJV) — 14 Wise people store up knowledge, But the mouth of the foolish is near destruction.
(NKJV) — 3 He who guards his mouth preserves his life, But he who opens wide his lips shall have destruction.
(NKJV) — 3 In the mouth of a fool is a rod of pride, But the lips of the wise will preserve them.
(NKJV) — 6 A fool’s lips enter into contention, And his mouth calls for blows. 7 A fool’s mouth is his destruction, And his lips are the snare of his soul.
(NKJV) — 20 A man’s stomach shall be satisfied from the fruit of his mouth; From the produce of his lips he shall be filled.
(NKJV) — 23 Whoever guards his mouth and tongue Keeps his soul from troubles.
(NKJV) — 12 The words of a wise man’s mouth are gracious, But the lips of a fool shall swallow him up; 13 The words of his mouth begin with foolishness, And the end of his talk is raving madness. 14 A fool also multiplies words. No man knows what is to be; Who can tell him what will be after him?
It can destroy others
(NKJV) — 9 The hypocrite with his mouth destroys his neighbor, But through knowledge the righteous will be delivered.

(NKJV) — 2 “How long will you torment my soul, And break me in pieces with words?
(NKJV) — 20 He has put forth his hands against those who were at peace with him; He has broken his covenant. 21 The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, But war was in his heart; His words were softer than oil, Yet they were drawn swords.
(NKJV) — 4 My soul is among lions; I lie among the sons of men Who are set on fire, Whose teeth are spears and arrows, And their tongue a sharp sword.
(NKJV) — 3 Who sharpen their tongue like a sword, And bend their bows to shoot their arrows—bitter words, 4 That they may shoot in secret at the blameless; Suddenly they shoot at him and do not fear.
(NKJV) — 3 They sharpen their tongues like a serpent; The poison of asps is under their lips. Selah
(NKJV) — 11 By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted, But it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.
(NKJV) — 6 The words of the wicked are, “Lie in wait for blood,” But the mouth of the upright will deliver them.
(NKJV) — 18 There is one who speaks like the piercings of a sword, But the tongue of the wise promotes health.
(NKJV) — 27 An ungodly man digs up evil, And it is on his lips like a burning fire.
It can bring life to others
(NKJV) — 11 The mouth of the righteous is a well of life, But violence covers the mouth of the wicked.
See also ; ; ; ; ; ;
(NKJV) — 20 The tongue of the righteous is choice silver; The heart of the wicked is worth little. 21 The lips of the righteous feed many, But fools die for lack of wisdom.
(NKJV) — 31 The mouth of the righteous brings forth wisdom, But the perverse tongue will be cut out. 32 The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable, But the mouth of the wicked what is perverse.
(NKJV) — 21 The wise in heart will be called prudent, And sweetness of the lips increases learning.
(NKJV) — 23 The heart of the wise teaches his mouth, And adds learning to his lips. 24 Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, Sweetness to the soul and health to the bones.
(NKJV) — 12 Like an earring of gold and an ornament of fine gold Is a wise rebuker to an obedient ear.
(NKJV) — 4 “The Lord God has given Me The tongue of the learned, That I should know how to speak A word in season to him who is weary. He awakens Me morning by morning, He awakens My ear To hear as the learned.
(NKJV) — 29 Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.
The timing of speech
There is an appropriate time for speaking
(NKJV) — 1 To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven: 2 A time to be born, And a time to die; A time to plant, And a time to pluck what is planted; 3 A time to kill, And a time to heal; A time to break down, And a time to build up; 4 A time to weep, And a time to laugh; A time to mourn, And a time to dance; 5 A time to cast away stones, And a time to gather stones; A time to embrace, And a time to refrain from embracing; 6 A time to gain, And a time to lose; A time to keep, And a time to throw away; 7 A time to tear, And a time to sew; A time to keep silence, And a time to speak; 8 A time to love, And a time to hate; A time of war, And a time of peace.
See also ; ;
(NKJV) — 23 A man has joy by the answer of his mouth, And a word spoken in due season, how good it is!
(NKJV) — 28 The heart of the righteous studies how to answer, But the mouth of the wicked pours forth evil.
(NKJV) — 11 A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold In settings of silver. 12 Like an earring of gold and an ornament of fine gold Is a wise rebuker to an obedient ear.
There is an appropriate time for silence
(NKJV) — 12 He who is devoid of wisdom despises his neighbor, But a man of understanding holds his peace. 13 A talebearer reveals secrets, But he who is of a faithful spirit conceals a matter.
See also ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ;
(NKJV) — 27 But some rebels said, “How can this man save us?” So they despised him, and brought him no presents. But he held his peace.
(NKJV) — 19 In the multitude of words sin is not lacking, But he who restrains his lips is wise.
(NKJV) — 27 He who has knowledge spares his words, And a man of understanding is of a calm spirit. 28 Even a fool is counted wise when he holds his peace; When he shuts his lips, he is considered perceptive.
(NKJV) — 23 Whoever guards his mouth and tongue Keeps his soul from troubles.
(NKJV) — 4 Do not answer a fool according to his folly, Lest you also be like him.
(NKJV) — 2 Do not be rash with your mouth, And let not your heart utter anything hastily before God. For God is in heaven, and you on earth; Therefore let your words be few. 3 For a dream comes through much activity, And a fool’s voice is known by his many words.
(NKJV) — 13 Therefore the prudent keep silent at that time, For it is an evil time.
(NKJV) — 20 “But the Lord is in His holy temple. Let all the earth keep silence before Him.”
(NKJV) — 7 Be silent in the presence of the Lord God; For the day of the Lord is at hand, For the Lord has prepared a sacrifice; He has invited His guests.
(NKJV) — 19 So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath;
Spoken witness produces faith
(NKJV) — 17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
See also ; ; ;
(NKJV) — 4 “The Lord God has given Me The tongue of the learned, That I should know how to speak A word in season to him who is weary. He awakens Me morning by morning, He awakens My ear To hear as the learned.
(NKJV) — 40 And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, “Be saved from this perverse generation.” 41 Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them.
(NKJV) — 23 So when they had appointed him a day, many came to him at his lodging, to whom he explained and solemnly testified of the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus from both the Law of Moses and the Prophets, from morning till evening. 24 And some were persuaded by the things which were spoken, and some disbelieved.
(NKJV) — 15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear;
Jesus Christ was silent before his accusers
(NKJV) — 22 “Who committed no sin, Nor was deceit found in His mouth”; 23 who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return; when He suffered, He did not threaten, but committed Himself to Him who judges righteously;
See also ; ; ;
(NKJV) — 63 But Jesus kept silent. And the high priest answered and said to Him, “I put You under oath by the living God: Tell us if You are the Christ, the Son of God!”
(NKJV) — 14 But He answered him not one word, so that the governor marveled greatly.
(NKJV) — 9 Then he questioned Him with many words, but He answered him nothing.
(NKJV) — 8 Therefore, when Pilate heard that saying, he was the more afraid, 9 and went again into the Praetorium, and said to Jesus, “Where are You from?” But Jesus gave him no answer.
Speech is an expression of a person’s character
(NKJV) — 34 Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. 35 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things. 36 But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. 37 For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”
See also ; ; ; ; ;
(NKJV) — 9 For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; Their inward part is destruction; Their throat is an open tomb; They flatter with their tongue.
(NKJV) — 1 Lord, who may abide in Your tabernacle? Who may dwell in Your holy hill? 2 He who walks uprightly, And works righteousness, And speaks the truth in his heart; 3 He who does not backbite with his tongue, Nor does evil to his neighbor, Nor does he take up a reproach against his friend; 4 In whose eyes a vile person is despised, But he honors those who fear the Lord; He who swears to his own hurt and does not change; 5 He who does not put out his money at usury, Nor does he take a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things shall never be moved.
(NKJV) — 10 When He had called the multitude to Himself, He said to them, “Hear and understand: 11 Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man.” 12 Then His disciples came and said to Him, “Do You know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this saying?” 13 But He answered and said, “Every plant which My heavenly Father has not planted will be uprooted. 14 Let them alone. They are blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind leads the blind, both will fall into a ditch.” 15 Then Peter answered and said to Him, “Explain this parable to us.” 16 So Jesus said, “Are you also still without understanding? 17 Do you not yet understand that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and is eliminated? 18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man. 19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies. 20 These are the things which defile a man, but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile a man.”
(NKJV) — 45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.
(NKJV) — 26 If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one’s religion is useless.
(NKJV) — 5 And in their mouth was found no deceit, for they are without fault before the throne of God.
