Nothing left to do but pray

An atheist was spending a quiet day fishing when suddenly his boat was attacked by the Loch Ness monster. In one easy flip, the beast tossed him and his boat high into the air. Then it opened its mouth to swallow both.
As the man sailed head over heels, he cried out, 'Oh, my God! Help me!'

Come on God, give me a break!!' the man pleaded. 'Two minutes ago I didn't believe in the Loch Ness monster either!'

Ruth Ryan, wife of Hall of Fame pitcher Nolan Ryan, had one moment she looked forward to in her husband games. In Covering Home she writes: “It probably hapened the first time on the hight school baseball diamond in Alvin Texas, in the mid 1960’s. Then it happened repeatedly for three decades after that. Inevitably, sometime during a game, Nolan would pop up out of the dugout and scan the stands behind home plate looking for me. He would find my face and grin at me, maybe snapping his head up on a quick nod as if to say, There you are; I’m glad! Id wave and flash him a smile. then he’d duck under the roof and turn back to the game. It was a simple moment, never noted in record books or career summaries. But of all the moments in all the games, it was the one most important to me.”

Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass.
At the 1997 Brickyard 400 NASCAR race, driver Lake Speed saw firsthand how God answered his prayer. His car had been having engine problems, and waiting to make a qualifying run, he waited in frustration because his car wouldn’t start. Meanwhile he prayed. Finally his crew chief Jeff Buice took a wrench and hand cranked the engine. The car started and Lake roared out onto the track and posted the second fasted qualifying time that day. Victor Lee writes in Sports Spectrum: “Later when speed returned to the pits to get ready for a final practice session, he found his crew tearing out the engine. Shocked he asked what had happened. “Lake that engine was blown before you qualified, noting that it had blown during the pre race inspection. Lake looked under the hood and oil was everywhere. “ I wasn’t going to tell you anything because time had run out. Even if it started, I didn’t expect it to make a lap, let alone make the whole race. Lake’s assessment was “God made a major mechanical miracle. I always pray right before the race. As I sat there and it didn’t start I added to my prayer, Lord I don’t know what is going on here, but if there is any way you can help me with this, I sure would like this thing to start.” Lake went on to finish 12th in the race, his second best finish that season.
God is interested in being involved in the details of our lives. But we have been given a will and dominion in this world, and He instructs us to commit our plans, desires, circumstances to Him (Acknowledge, involve Him)
