The Christmas Gift
Text:* *John 1:10-13 (NIV) \\ 10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him.
11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him.
12 Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.[1]
*Central Idea: *Jesus was born to us that we may be born of God.

I.         Introduction: Genealogy is a popular topic today.
Growing up, some of my relatives would identify those they would speak of by relationships and family ties.
That is how they would identify that person.
When it comes to Jesus, the way we identify Him is through His family ties.
Who is this Child?
The gospels of Matthew and Luke take great pains to give his family ties according to geneology, but John takes a different approach.
John really tells who Jesus is.
