God Loves for His people to have passion for Him

God Loves Passion in His people
King David was a man after God’s heart, and one who was passionate for his cause
His cause was always to and glorify the God of Israel, and through faith to defeat God’s enemy’s.
His passion and cause was always to and glorify the God of Israel, and through faith to defeat God’s enemy’s.
He was passionate in Worship, spending time meditating on God’s Words, in pursuing the enemy’s of the Lord
Confronted by his brothers he said “Is there not a cause?”
Cause definition - reason for an action, a principle or movement militantly defended; charitable undertaking

Do you have a cause? Aren’t sure about it? Ask!!!

You do have a Cause just as Jesus did. “You say rightly that I am a king. For this Cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth”
Ask Holy Spirit to give you revelation on your cause.

What ever we do and desire on this earth, should ultimately be rooted in bringing our God glory by making Him known here on Earth.
Bringing our God glory by making Him known here on Earth
Having a passion for what we do STARTS with our passion for God!
Psalm 37:4 NLT
Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart’s desires.
Psalm 34:7 NKJV
The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him, And delivers them.
Ps 3

Ever go to a revival meeting expecting to experience God’s tangible sense of His presence, and you just sit and soak, relaxing, pampering your self. You leave refreshed, invigorated, sometimes intoxicated in the presence.
In His presence is fullness of joy.

God will “give” us the desires of our hearts.

The desires of our heart are often what we find it easy to be passionate about.

What floats your boat? What is it in life that excites you?

In the Chicago Tribune Magazine, Cheryl Lavin writes about former Today show host Bryant Gumbel. Evidently Gumbel loves golf. Really loves golf. Belongs to four clubs. Plays 200 times a year, sometimes 54 holes a weekend. Ownes 2000 golf clubs. He says, “its the one thing that you do that is only about you. It’s the thing I enjoy the most.” Gumbel and Al Roker were discussing a poll in Golf magazine that asked, “Which would you rather give up, golf or sex?” Without hesitating, Gumbel said sex. Roker was surprised. Gumbel said “Maybe you’ve never had a great round of golf.”

God Loves to give us our hearts desire.
God Loves to give us our hearts desire.
How do we know if what we desire is from God? Desires given by God will line up with God’s Word.
He will not give you your hearts desire if it involves harm to another, hatred of vengence, divorce, theft, etc.
Wommach’s story about the woman wanting to marry Copeland
Will shape our heart’s desire to match His desire for us. ()
Will shape our heart’s desire to match His desire for us. ()
Which would you rather give up? is not always a hypothetical question. Sometimes God asks us to give up something enjoyable in exchange for something that is far, far more enjoyable. The more we see the true joys of the things of God, the easier any sacrifice becomes. The key is making our first passion, God Himself. Delighting in Him. Then he can take the desires of our heart we are passionate about , and show us how to use them for His Glory.
Moving to WV
Don’t let the enemy rob you of the pleasure of enjoying the fruit of your hearts desire.
Bill Cowher took over as coach of the Steelers in 1992. The Steelers made the playoffs each of his first several season, and went to the Superbowl in 96. If there is a word that described Cowher’s approach to football, it would be passion, on the field and off.
In Sports Illustrated, Tim Crothers wrote: “After almost every game and practice, Cowher would drive straight home to his wife Kaye, and their three daughters. He doesn’t do ads for cars or frozen yogurt. He exists inside his two passions, family and football, exclusive of everything else. Cowher is so focused that one afternoon he was seated next to a woman at a civic luncheon and politely asked, “What is it that you do?”. The woman responded, “I’m the mayor of Pittsburgh!”. “
Other than it probably being nice to be well informed enough to know who your mayor is, Bill’s example highlights one other truth for believers, that is that the more we focus (delight ourself) on the Lord and our cause, the less we will focus on the unimportant things of this world.
He want’s to “pamper you”, relax and enjoy!

Revelation 3:15–16 NKJV
“I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.
Revelation 3:16 NKJV
So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.
In David’s view, King Saul and the army had lost it’s passion for the cause
When we take our eyes off the cause and begin to look at the message of the enemy, we lose our zeal (passion) for the fight.
Even King David took his eyes off the cause when he stayed home at the time when Kings go off to war, and then succumbed to the enemy’s message of lust by commanding Bathsheba to come to him. Then he hindered the cause by trying to cover up for himself by sending Urriah home, and when Urriah would not be distracted from the cause, David even positioned him so that he would be killed, weakening the army.
Revelation 3:19 NKJV
As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent.
Even when we fail, God will take steps to restore us, and get our passion back fora the cause
Revelation 3:19 NKJV
As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent.
Even when we fall, God will take steps to restore us, and get our passion back fora the cause
Like any good father, God will correct and discipline us if we become lukewarm and hinder the kingdom’s cause.
