Hebrews 12:1 NIV
1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us,

When You are uncertain about your purpose...

God has a place for you.

Esther 2:5–7 NIV
5 Now there was in the citadel of Susa a Jew of the tribe of Benjamin, named Mordecai son of Jair, the son of Shimei, the son of Kish, 6 who had been carried into exile from Jerusalem by Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, among those taken captive with Jehoiachin king of Judah. 7 Mordecai had a cousin named Hadassah, whom he had brought up because she had neither father nor mother. This young woman, who was also known as Esther, had a lovely figure and was beautiful. Mordecai had taken her as his own daughter when her father and mother died.

Esther had challenges

She was an orphan

She was a single woman

She was a minority

Psalm 33:11 NIV
11 But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations.

“No place is out of place when you are in God’s place.”

FINDING YOUR PLACE

1. Finding your place requires great faith and trust.

Esther 2:17 NIV
17 Now the king was attracted to Esther more than to any of the other women, and she won his favor and approval more than any of the other virgins. So he set a royal crown on her head and made her queen instead of Vashti.

“No Place is out of place when you are in God’s place.”

Psalm 31:14–15 NIV
14 But I trust in you, Lord; I say, “You are my God.” 15 My times are in your hands; deliver me from the hands of my enemies, from those who pursue me.

2. Finding your place requires great courage.

Esther 4:13–14 NIV
13 he sent back this answer: “Do not think that because you are in the king’s house you alone of all the Jews will escape. 14 For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?”

Isaiah 41:10 NIV
10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

3. Finding your place requires great focus on God.

Esther 4:15–16 NIV
15 Then Esther sent this reply to Mordecai: 16 “Go, gather together all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my attendants will fast as you do. When this is done, I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish.”

Proverbs 25:2 NLT
2 It is God’s privilege to conceal things and the king’s privilege to discover them.

4. Finding your place requires great initiative.

Esther 4:16 NIV
16 “Go, gather together all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my attendants will fast as you do. When this is done, I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish.”

She showed courage under fire.

She realized God called her to the position to fulfill a certain purpose in “the position.”

She was willing to confront evil and injustice in spite of personal risk to herself.

She spoke when it was time to speak

She surrounded herself with people who would tell her the truth about herself

She had prayer support

“In every age there comes a time when a leader must come forward to meet the needs of the hour. Therefore there is no potential leader who does not have the opportunity to make a positive difference in society. Tragically there are times when a leader does not rise to the hour.” Winston Church Hill

ESTHER’S WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT

When you don’t understand, stay steady.

Romans 8:28 NIV
28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

When realize God’s purpose for your life, you feel empowered.

Acts 10:38 NLT
38 And you know that God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. Then Jesus went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.

When you know God is in control, it’s easier to take the next step.

Acts 17:26–28 NIV84
From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us. ‘For in him we live and move and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’
Romans 10:9–10 NIV
If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.
