How do you ensure maximum impact? - Going viral
How do we work to see God most glorified?
Big Idea: Taking Christ to the nations ensures maximum glory to God.
God’s glory
Infrastructure? Better social programs? Capitalism?

Christ’s glory is too great for one people group (v. 6a)

In this conversation we learn something important about the
“It’s too light a thing” - literally small, or insignificant
Person
Not too easy - but not great enough!
The Father says to the Son - to only be the savior of Jacob or Israel is not big enough
Not too easy - but not great enough!
It’s not in proportion to the greatness of the glory of God and the depth of sacrifice of the son.
For his blood to be shed for only one people group or ethnic tribe would not encompass the greatness of his glory.
The Servant Song -
It’s not glorious enough to my name.
God’s majestic greatness and beauty is far too brilliant for one small, little tribe of people to know or experience.
Malachi 1:11 ESV
For from the rising of the sun to its setting my name will be great among the nations, and in every place incense will be offered to my name, and a pure offering. For my name will be great among the nations, says the Lord of hosts.

Wouldn’t be fitting for one of the greatest actors of our time, Tom Hanks, to only get a little local municipality theatre award - his work is too great!
God will get maximum glory for his name! He will be renown in all the earth.
Honored in the eyes of the Lord
Empowered by Spirit of God

Christ’s salvation is intended to reach the ends of the earth (v. 6b)

Because the weight of the glory of Christ exceeds merely Israel, the Father declares two things of the Son:
Purpose
He will be a light for the nations
The covenant God made with Israel was not to just stay with Israel - the messiah is for the world!
God’s predetermined plans have always been that he would be glorified in all the world!
“Every knee will bow - every tongue will confess”
He will “be my salvation to the ends of the earth.”
The Hebrew here is clear - not just the purpose that his salvation will reach the ends of the earth
But Christ is the actual means of salvation for the ends of the earth
Malachi 1:11 ESV
For from the rising of the sun to its setting my name will be great among the nations, and in every place incense will be offered to my name, and a pure offering. For my name will be great among the nations, says the Lord of hosts.
- people from every tongue and
He is our salvation - and it is by repentance and faith in Christ that people are saved.
Romans 10:13 ESV
For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
His life bought our righteousness.
He death atoned for our sins
His resurrection sealed our redemption
If Christ is not proclaimed and believed upon people can not be saved!
So the gospel must go to the nations! This is God’s agenda! He will carry it out.
Revelation 5:9–10 ESV
And they sang a new song, saying, “Worthy are you to take the scroll and to open its seals, for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation, and you have made them a kingdom and priests to our God, and they shall reign on the earth.”
Therefore - our participation in the advance of the gospel to the nations is our participation in the God’s plan to get maximum glory for the Son.
