I’m a mommas boy.
There is no doubt about it.

Mother’s Day is a great day but it can also be complex for people.
At the drop of a hat, one single moment can change our view of Mother’s Day for the better or for the worse.
I know some people that avoid church on day’s like today.
Understandably so.
How did Jesus feel about His own mother and what can we learn from Him?
In the book of John, Jesus’ mother is only mentioned twice.
Jesus’ first miracle at Cana and the passage that we just read.

Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

He made provision for His mother but entrusting her to the care of His disciple John.
We know in , that He could not put her into the care of His brothers yet.
Jesus fulfilled His end of being the earthly son to Mary:
1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.
2 HONOR YOUR FATHER AND MOTHER (which is the first commandment with a promise),
3 SO THAT IT MAY BE WELL WITH YOU, AND THAT YOU MAY LIVE LONG ON THE EARTH.
Jesus stopped for a moment to care for His mother.

Our parents deserve our respect.
Jesus set the example that we must take responsibility for the people that raised us.
This is not just true for our earthly parents.
