And the woman conceived, and bare a son: and when she saw him that he was a goodly child, she hid him three months.
And when she could not longer hide him, she took for him an ark of bulrushes, and daubed it with slime and with pitch, and put the child therein; and she laid it in the flags by the river’s brink.
And his sister stood afar off, to wit what would be done to him.
And the daughter of Pharaoh came down to wash herself at the river; and her maidens walked along by the river’s side; and when she saw the ark among the flags, she sent her maid to fetch it.
And when she had opened it, she saw the child: and, behold, the babe wept. And she had compassion on him, and said, This is one of the Hebrews’ children.
Then said his sister to Pharaoh’s daughter, Shall I go and call to thee a nurse of the Hebrew women, that she may nurse the child for thee?
And Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, Go. And the maid went and called the child’s mother.
And Pharaoh’s daughter said unto her, Take this child away, and nurse it for me, and I will give thee thy wages. And the woman took the child, and nursed it.
And the child grew, and she brought him unto Pharaoh’s daughter, and he became her son. And she called his name Moses: and she said, Because I drew him out of the water.

Christian Home:
Christian Home:
The stage was set early in Moses’ life. He was born to a Godly mother and father. He was born into a Christian home. No matter what Moses would do with his life, he started out with a good foundation. How important is it to lay a godly foundation in our homes for our children. Our children have to be a priority in our lives. So many times they get lost in the shuffle and overlooked and neglected.
God’s intent and master plan was for the father and mother to raise up their children together and teach them God’s laws and statutes.
1 Give ear, O my people, to my law: incline your ears to the words of my mouth.
2 I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old:
Give ear, O my people, to my law: Incline your ears to the words of my mouth.
I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old:
Which we have heard and known, And our fathers have told us.
We will not hide them from their children, Shewing to the generation to come The praises of the Lord, and his strength, And his wonderful works that he hath done.
For he established a testimony in Jacob, And appointed a law in Israel, Which he commanded our fathers, That they should make them known to their children:
That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; Who should arise and declare them to their children:
That they might set their hope in God, And not forget the works of God, But keep his commandments:
And might not be as their fathers, A stubborn and rebellious generation; A generation that set not their heart aright, And whose spirit was not stedfast with God.
3 Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us.
Psalm 78:
4 We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the Lord, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done.
5 For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children:
The desire should be to want something better, that they may not be as their fathers, stubborn and rebellious. He says don’t hide my laws from your children. For he has established a testimony that should be made known unto our children. That they too might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep His commandments.
6 That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children:
7 That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments:
8 And might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation; a generation that set not their heart aright, and whose spirit was not stedfast with God.
The desire should be to want something better, that they may not be as their fathers, stubborn and rebellious. He says don’t hide my laws from your children. Believe In Them:
As soon as Moses was born, his mother looked at him and seen he was a goodly child ([exceedingly] beautiful)AMP.
She saw potential in him. She saw a purpose in him that she felt so strong about, she wouldn’t let him die. Moses’s mother believed in him. One of the greatest gifts you can give your child is to believe in them. To let them know that you are in their corner. That you support their dreams and ideas. What is missing in so many homes is that parents don’t make the necessary investments in their children’s lives. We’ve got to change the culture of raising our children and begin to make the time and effort of investing into their lives. Begin to sow into them, to pour into their souls the love of God. They need to see and feel that they have the support of their father and mother. Nothing makes a child feel more proud than when his/her parents are applauding them. When they know that you believe in them, it speaks volumes for their self esteem and confidence. Moses’s mother was willing to risk her life for the safety of her son. Can you imagine what she must have been telling everyone? Remember she already had a son and daughter, but I suppose as people questioned her judgement, she would tell them that there’s something special about this child. He is going to do great things one day. God has a plan for his life. I just know that God will use my son and I want to give him the opportunity to live the life that God intended for him. Parents are the biggest influences in a child’s life. With the divorce rate steadily rising and more and more same sex relationships are formed. With laws and our Constitution being changed, there’s the idea that American families are worse off and continuing to decline.
The Basket:
In the midst of all that’s going on to destroy our families, our children’s lives, how can we create a place of safety? Moses’s mother knew she couldn’t hide him anymore, so she created for him a place of safety. She wove a basket together and daubed it with slime and with pitch. She laid her child in and had to trust that what she created would protect him.
We first have to create a home that is a safe place for our children. We can buy a house but we have to build a home. It takes work to build a home that is full of love and compassion. That means that we as parents have to create an atmosphere that our children feel loved and appreciated. We’ve got to work as a team that ensures that they grow up with that sense of security.
Investing in them means spending time with them, communicating with them, and teaching them. Families are way too busy if you don’t have time for each other. we invest by praying for them and interceding on their behalf.
When a period of feasting had run its course, Job would make arrangements for them to be purified. Early in the morning he would sacrifice a burnt offering for each of them, thinking, “Perhaps my children have sinned and cursed God in their hearts.” This was Job’s regular custom.
5 And it was so, when the days of their feasting were gone about, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all: for Job said, It may be that my sons have sinned, and cursed God in their hearts. Thus did Job continually.
Job prayed and interceded on his children’s behalf. We too must pray and stand in the gap for our children. We can’t turn our backs and ignore them or give up on them. We must make up the hedge around their lives with prayer and fasting.

We also must teach our children about faith and what it means to live by faith.
For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

To teach them that there will be times when all you will have is faith. That times will get hard and money won't be there, friends won’t be there, but God will see you through. We must teach them about a faith that last through hard times, a faith that endures through sickness and adversity. Son, this is how your father has made it all these years, by the faith of God. Daughter, this is how your mother has held on because I put my faith in God.

We must create an atmosphere in our churches that makes them feel loved and protected. This should be a safe haven from the dangers of the world. It should be like coming out of the storm. We must encourage them that they are safe here. That they can reveal their flaws and imperfections because we all are imperfect people. We can’t look down on them because they have messed up but that we embrace them with the love and compassion of Jesus.
What if we addressed real issues? Instead of taking our doctrine and beating them up with it, telling them what not to do and what they are doing wrong, we address real issues like temptation and how we all live with it. We , the church, don’t prepare our children, our youth for real world issues. We must teach them about life and how to deal with it. They face so many obstacles and the last thing they need is to be criticized by self-righteous church folk.
When they come in broken, messed up, hurt and abused, lets love on them, embrace them, and share the weight of their load. We should encourage their dreams and ideas. Help them and guide them along the course of life.

Young kids at our church
Let’s create a place that the hurt and broken feel welcomed, that the ashamed feel secure to reveal their true selves. Let’s build baskets that protect and nourish our youth, our children.
