We Believe God Reveals
We Believe God Reveals
God is love, power, and splendor—and God is a mystery. His ways are far beyond us, but He still reaches out to us. God is infinite yet intimate, three yet one, all-knowing yet all-forgiving. We will spend eternity cherishing an ever-deepening relationship with God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

The next two sermons will dive into this belief
Like the trinity the idea of creation is highly debated. Unlike the trinity it is not just the church that debates this important topics… The main reason is it is a fundamental question of the human heart.
In his Book Origin by Dan Brown, the antagonist Edmond Kirsch suggest that arguably the two most important questions of our race are, “Where do we come from?” and “Where are we going?”
Many people try to answer this question because an inner longing for meaning.
God made our world with brilliant creativity and tender care. He created humanity to take care of and take pleasure in the planet, with rest and recreation in perfect balance.

God has revealed in Scripture the authentic and historical account of His creative activity. He created the universe, and in a recent six-day creation the Lord made “the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them” and rested on the seventh day. Thus He established the Sabbath as a perpetual memorial of the work He performed and completed during six literal days that together with the Sabbath constituted the same unit of time that we call a week today. The first man and woman were made in the image of God as the crowning work of Creation, given dominion over the world, and charged with responsibility to care for it. When the world was finished it was “very good,” declaring the glory of God.

Quotes on Meaning of Life
For me life is continuously being hungry. The meaning of life is not to exist, to survive, but to move ahead, to go up, to achieve, to conquer. -Arnold Schwarzenegger
The meaning of life is contained in every single expression of life. It is present in the infinity of forms and phenomena that exist in all of creation. -Michael Jackson
The meaning of life. The wasted years of life. The poor choices of life. God answers the mess of life with one word: ‘grace.’ -Max Lucado
What is the Meaning of life? To love and be loved.-David Asscherick
He goes on to say this is because God is love.
Many look to our origin to find meaning.

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
We see more on the story in the first 11 chapters of Genesis…
There are many different interruptions of those chapters. However, they can be broken down into three main beliefs.
Evolution
Theistic Evolution
Creation
Briefly explain each using my story.

However, if we look at these chapter to simply prove a scientific point we are missing the point. And the Adventist understanding can shed some incredible light on the subject.

Thus the heavens and the earth, and all the host of them, were finished.
And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done.
Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.
It is important to know how we are created but more importantly is the fact that we WHERE CREATED BY GOD.
We see this echoed throughout Scripture
Page 71
“Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Six days you shall labor and do all your work,
but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates.
For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.
The last verse is key. It is the reason Seventh-day Adventist keep the Sabbath… It is to remember we are CREATED… We have purpose and meaning in life because we where made with intention.

For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb.
I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.
This is the key of our teaching and understanding of creation. Not the science behind it but the reason for it. We where intentional made but God. The bible describes Him in the following verses.
Page 523
The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork.
Day unto day utters speech, And night unto night reveals knowledge.
There is no speech nor language Where their voice is not heard.
Their line has gone out through all the earth, And their words to the end of the world. In them He has set a tabernacle for the sun,
Which is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, And rejoices like a strong man to run its race.
Its rising is from one end of heaven, And its circuit to the other end; And there is nothing hidden from its heat.

By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.

By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, And all the host of them by the breath of His mouth.
His Word is powerful enough to speak into creation.

For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast.
His Word is powerful enough to speak into creation.

I have made the earth, And created man on it. I—My hands—stretched out the heavens, And all their host I have commanded.
For thus says the Lord, Who created the heavens, Who is God, Who formed the earth and made it, Who has established it, Who did not create it in vain, Who formed it to be inhabited: “I am the Lord, and there is no other.
It proves His Lordship over the earth.

God, who made the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands.

For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.
But not only did God Create and form the word he formed us!

But now, O Lord, You are our Father; We are the clay, and You our potter; And all we are the work of Your hand.
Colossians 1:16

And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.

So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
Why is it important?
Why is it important?
As we saw during our Revelation: Meaning, Purpose and Hope the idea of God as creator is incredibly important

Page 1181
The angel whom I saw standing on the sea and on the land raised up his hand to heaven
and swore by Him who lives forever and ever, who created heaven and the things that are in it, the earth and the things that are in it, and the sea and the things that are in it, that there should be delay no longer,
and swore by Him who lives forever and ever, who created heaven and the things that are in it, the earth and the things that are in it, and the sea and the things that are in it, that there should be delay no longer,
Page 1183
Then I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach to those who dwell on the earth—to every nation, tribe, tongue, and people—
saying with a loud voice, “Fear God and give glory to Him, for the hour of His judgment has come; and worship Him who made heaven and earth, the sea and springs of water.”
The idea of God being a creator God is incredibly important during the last days. Since the birth of the evolutionary theory in the early 1800 brought more into the public eye with the publishing of Charles Darwin's Origin of Species by means of natural selection, or the preservation of Favoured Races in the struggle for life in November of 1859.
saying with a loud voice, “Fear God and give glory to Him, for the hour of His judgment has come; and worship Him who made heaven and earth, the sea and springs of water.”
Pale blue dot...
This excerpt from Sagan's book Pale Blue Dot was inspired by an image taken, at Sagan's suggestion, by Voyager 1 on February 14, 1990. As the spacecraft left our planetary neighborhood for the fringes of the solar system, engineers turned it around for one last look at its home planet. Voyager 1 was about 6.4 billion kilometers (4 billion miles) away, and approximately 32 degrees above the ecliptic plane, when it captured this portrait of our world. Caught in the center of scattered light rays (a result of taking the picture so close to the Sun), Earth appears as a tiny point of light, a crescent only 0.12 pixel in size.
Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there--on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.
The Earth is a very small stage in a vast cosmic arena. Think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors so that, in glory and triumph, they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot. Think of the endless cruelties visited by the inhabitants of one corner of this pixel on the scarcely distinguishable inhabitants of some other corner, how frequent their misunderstandings, how eager they are to kill one another, how fervent their hatreds.
Our posturings, our imagined self-importance, the delusion that we have some privileged position in the Universe, are challenged by this point of pale light. Our planet is a lonely speck in the great enveloping cosmic dark. In our obscurity, in all this vastness, there is no hint that help will come from elsewhere to save us from ourselves.
The Earth is the only world known so far to harbor life. There is nowhere else, at least in the near future, to which our species could migrate. Visit, yes. Settle, not yet. Like it or not, for the moment the Earth is where we make our stand.
It has been said that astronomy is a humbling and character-building experience. There is perhaps no better demonstration of the folly of human conceits than this distant image of our tiny world. To me, it underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly with one another, and to preserve and cherish the pale blue dot, the only home we've ever known.
-- Carl Sagan, Pale Blue Dot, 1994
The poem has inspired many, but it has also discouraged many.
-The story of Tim Mooney (Not using his name… Just a boy) is a high school student and football star, of which his father Kent is very proud, who has become depressed in the wake of his parents' divorce and abandonment by his mother. He quits the football team and begins to spend all his time playing an MMORPG. He has also come to believe, referencing Carl Sagan's reflections about the Pale Blue Dot, that human life is insignificant in context of the universe.-Men, Women & Children (Note this movie is very graphic with strong language. This story is shared only to highlight the difference between an Evolutionary world view and Christian worldview.
Closing appeal on the beauty of human life as it is in God.
