Vulnerable places

Matthew 6:19–21 KJV 1900
19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: 20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: 21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
Treasure is a measurement

++Things of great Importance
Jesus warns us
++Be careful what you value
++Be mindful where you put it
++Vulnerable places

Vulnerable places are unwise or unsafe to place what you value.

Everybody has something they value.

Some Value
++Temporary Things
++Measurable Things
++Intangible Things
Some value temporary things cars Houses and land. Some value measurable things like Power, prestige or position. Others see the intangibles like love, relationship and peace the greatest prize.
Matthew 12:35 KJV 1900
35 A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.

We don't function
++By what is stored
++It is from the overflow
Matthew 12:34 KJV 1900
34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.
The Overflow
++Reveals the treasure of the Heart
++Exposes our values

Song of Solomon 8:4–7 KJV 1900
4 I charge you, O daughters of Jerusalem, That ye stir not up, nor awake my love, until he please. 5 Who is this that cometh up from the wilderness, Leaning upon her beloved? I raised thee up under the apple tree: There thy mother brought thee forth: There she brought thee forth that bare thee. 6 Set me as a seal upon thine heart, As a seal upon thine arm: For love is strong as death; Jealousy is cruel as the grave: The coals thereof are coals of fire, Which hath a most vehement flame. 7 Many waters cannot quench love, Neither can the floods drown it: If a man would give all the substance of his house for love, It would utterly be contemned.
Wisdom says
Wisdom says
++Guard your heart
++Protect it
++Preserve it

Everybody will take risk with the things they value

This is apart of life system.
True value is not in what
++We possess
What we possess
++We have accomplished
++We have built
True value is found
++The most vulnerable places
++Beyond our expectation

God was willing to risk everything for the treasure of His heart.

What was this treasure?
++He sought that which was lost
++Lost Relationship
++Lost Fellowship
John 3:16 KJV 1900
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
God valued us
God valued us
++He sent his Son for us
++He gave his life for us
++Because of his love
Why did He do it?
++He saw something
++He knew something
++Things not visible about us
Romans 5:8 KJV 1900
8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Matthew 13:44 KJV 1900
44 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.
The Kingdom of God
The Kingdom of God
++Hidden Treasure
++It was not lost
++It was undiscovered

We were like undiscovered Treasure

This is what the Kingdom of God is like.
This is what the Kingdom of God is like.
Hidden treasure
As long as no one knows that it is there the land is common.
When the man found the hidden treasure.
++He covered it up.
++He sold all he had
++He purchased the field
He would not be satisfied with
++A little bit
++Just enough
When you find real treasure
++What you possess
++Worthy of the sacrifice
1 Corinthians 13:10 KJV 1900
10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
Speaks of a greater perfection
Speaks of a greater perfection
++A clearer revelation
++A greater hope
++Something is coming

We are always looking for greater treasure.

Greater treasure will
++Require an exchange
++Require a sacrifice
The world can be very attractive
++Don’t be fooled by fame
++Don’t be mesmerized by money
++Or paralyzed by popularity
1 John 2:15–17 KJV 1900
15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. 17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

The world passes away

The world passes away
2 Corinthians 4:18 KJV 1900
18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.
