Jn 16:33. Tony van Drimmelen. What does it mean to believe in the One who has overcome the world? For disciples the implications are huge. Jesus summarizes what He has been teaching and then gives a word of application. He corrects his disciples about being over-confident and tells them they will leave Him. Like them, we will have trouble in the world. But we hear Jesus saying to us: “take heart” and “be of good cheer” because He has overcome the world. The implication being that, in Him, disciples will most definitely also overcome!
