Lord, please help out church to love and serve one another.
Gracious God and Father, help our love to be like Yours...
1. BE PATIENT AND KIND
1. BE PATIENT AND KIND
“Love is patient, love is kind.” (v4)
Let’s give thanks to God for being patient for our church family. In all our failings He continues to treasure us through His Son, our Lord and Savior Jesus.
Pray that our church would love one another with the same patient love — that we don’t get annoyed if people seem slow to change or don’t do things the way we might like.
Pray that our love would overflow in acts of kindness towards each other.
2. ISN’T PROUD OR SELF-SEEKING
2. ISN’T PROUD OR SELF-SEEKING
“Love…is not arrogant”; “is not self-seeking” (v4,5).
Pray that as a church, we’d love one another with a Christ-like humility:willing to do the tasks that are dirty, difficult or dull; willing to associate with people who seem needy, frustrating or just a bit odd.
Pray that each of us wouldn’t seek our own benefit or enjoyment, but would do thing for the benefit of others.
3. KEEPS NO RECORD OF WRONGS
3. KEEPS NO RECORD OF WRONGS
“and does not keep a record of wrongs.” (v5)
We are going to hurt others, let them down, and make bad decisions — and your brothers and sisters in Christ will do that too.
Thank God that He keeps no record of your wrongs; and pray that as a church, we wouldn’t either.
Ask for grace, that we might repent quickly, forgive quickly, and move on quickly.
4. REJOICES WITH THE TRUTH
4. REJOICES WITH THE TRUTH
Spend some time rejoicing over the people in our church that God has recently brought to the saving truth of the gospel (v6).
Pray and ask the Lord that we might see more fruit for our labors, that our rejoicing would abound!
Let’s rejoice & give thanks to the Lord how the truth is transforming us as a congregation.
Pray that our church would always be a people that rejoices in the truth.
5. TRUSTS, HOPES, PERSEVERES.
5. TRUSTS, HOPES, PERSEVERES.
Pray that God would form us into a community that “…believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” (v7)
Pray that we’d trust one another enough to be real with each other; that our hopes would become one and the same.
Pray that as God brings this to pass that our desires would be the best for one another.
Pray that our relationship would last for the long haul, as our love perseveres through good and bad times.
