Jealousy can be the death of you. 1 Sam. 18:6-16

David is celebrating his victory over Goliath with a ticker tape parade. The same victory Saul would have enjoyed if he had been victorious over the same enemy. He ( Saul) allowed fear to paralyze him from fulfilling his responsibility as king by facing the enemy, so he wholehearted gave the challenge to another. Just for a moment lets look at this word fear. False evidence appearing real. It is a crippling emotion that will prevent you from the accomplishment of set goal. Fear paralyses and will freeze you in your tracks. It will cloud your good reasoning and is a major factor in making bad decisions. Fear will have you lie when it ain’t even necessary. Fear is the absence of faith and without faith it is impossible to please God Hebrews chapter 6. Perfect love cast out fear. Now instead of Saul being grateful for what David had accomplished for the sake of the kingdom fear creeps into the heart of Saul and he starts thinking about his credibility with the people would diminish and he would soon be overthrown and for that Saul never looked at David the same ever again. In the new testament King Herod was intimidated by the birth of the Christ child and had male babies killed to secure his position on the throne. Jealousy is cruel. If I understand the text God allowed an evil spirit to enter into the heart of Saul. God knows the heart. God knows the intent of the heart. It is deceitful and despitefully wicked. The jealousy of David went to hatred. He offered him one of his daughters who ended up marrying somebody else. He then offered him another daughter through his servants, but David replied I’m poor and have nothing to give you for her. The king said I want nothing but one hundred foreskins of my enemy thinking this would lead to his demise. David and his army went out and brought Saul back twice as much as he asked for. You cannot harm the anointed man of God thinking you are going to win. You put your own self jeopardy. There is a time and a purpose for everything under the heavens. you have your place that god has placed you to do what He wants you to do. You have no time to be jealous of anything and anybody because God has for you to do is important to the Kingdom. You ambition not ordained by God are null and void. Jesus speaking to His father said not my will but thou be done. What God has for me is for me.
Now instead of Saul being grateful for what David had accomplished for the sake of the kingdom jealousy crept in and Saul never looked at David the same ever again.
