Untitled Sermon

Looking @ David has some age on him he is not that youth that fought Goliath.

He must have wrote when he was hiding out from his young son Absalom.

He’s in a no win situation. If he wins he loses his son. All due to his sin with Bathsheba.

DAVID’S IN TROUBLE

VS:4  My God, rescue me from the power of the wicked, from the clutches of cruel oppressors.

VS:10  For my enemies are whispering against me. They are plotting together to kill me. WE HAVE TROUBLES: HEALTH, LOST SPOUSE, CHILDREN, STRESS, WORK, FINANCIAL,   

8THINGS DAVID TELLS THE LORD ABOUT HIS ENEMIES 1. VS:4 They are wicked,  2. They are unrighteous,  3. They are cruel 4. VS:10 They lay wait to destroy me, (NLT) PLOT AGAINST ME       

5. They take counsel to destroy me (NLT) THEY WHISPER AGAINST ME   6. VS:11  They say, "God has abandoned him. Let's go get him, for no one will help him now."

7. VS:13 They are adversaries (NLT ACCUSERS) 8. VS:13 They seek my hurt  HARM ME    

US: PHYSICAL, MENTALLY, SPIRITUALLY, REPUTATION, CHARACTER, FINANCIALLY,    

DAVID KNOWS TO WHOM HE PRAYS,  

TELLS ALL GOD HAS BEEN TO HIM

1.V:5 MY Hope, SOMEONE I’VE TRUSTED FROM A CHILD

2. VS:7 A strong refuge        3. VS:17 An instructor

DAVID ACKNOWLEDGES ALL THAT GOD HAS DONE FOR HIM

1. VS:3 You have given commandment to save me 2. VS:6 You have sustained me from my birth  from my mother's womb. 3. VS:17 You have taught me from my youth 4. VS:19 You have done great things for me 5. VS:23 You have redeemed me

DAVID PRAYS (CRIES OUT) TO GOD, PETITIONS GOD 1. VS:1 Let me never be confused  (Disgraced, Humiliated, Shamed).

2. VS:2  Save me, rescue me, Turn your ear to listen to me, and set me free.

3. VS:3  Be thou my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort: thou hast given commandment to save me; for thou art my rock and my fortress.  

HABITATION: The state of living in a particular place.  synonyms: occupancy, residence

RESORT: place of aid, refuge, popular place of vacation, relaxation, rest, restoration.  

FORTRESS a fortified place; a place of security or survival

4. VS:4 Deliver me from the wicked

5. VS:9 Do not forget me in my OLD AGE: Do not leave me when my strength is gone.

6. VS:12 Lord stay close to me. Come Quickly & help me

7. VS:13 Let my adversaries that seek to kill me be disgraced, Humiliated, shamed, & destroyed.  

8. VS:18  Forsake me not

DAVID ENDS HIS PRAYER WITH CONFIDENCE & PRAISE UNTO THE LORD

20  You have allowed me to suffer much hardship, but you will restore me to life again and lift me up from the depths of the earth. 21 You will restore me to even greater honor and comfort me once again.

22 Then I will praise you with music on the harp, because you are faithful to your promises, O my God. I will sing praises to you with a lyre, O Holy One of Israel. 23 I will shout for joy and sing your praises, for you have ransomed me.

24 I will tell about your righteous deeds all day long, for everyone who tried to hurt me has been shamed and humiliated.
