Intro: How are we to live as Christians in a world that is in opposition to the Gospel?

Background:

This passage and this series will emphasize the “call” of God on those who trust God. Being “called out” means...
Sometimes the reputation of a place becomes widespread. Californication-
Describe the church: Paul writes this letter from Ephesus to the church at Corinth. He loved this church. On his 2nd missionary journey, he had spent 18 month there. Corinth was a strategic location for mission. It was one of the largest cities in the Roman empire, and due to its location, it was a center of international influence. If the gospel spread in Corinth, it would spread all over. It was also one of the most corrupt. Temples to pagan God were numerous in the city. Sexual immorality was rampant. “To Corinthianize” meant sexual immorality. It was a cultural center, and a center for learning.
When the gospel is preached, people are called out.
It is in this context, Paul reminds them that they are called out.
Read the text:

Their Identity - called as saints

Who am I? a sinner- or a saint. holy ones. WHO? just a select group… all who call on the Lord Jesus Christ.
The Bible’s message is that God changes who you are first, then what you do. NOT just a bunch of rules.
You can’t try to be a christian, God makes you a christian.
not behavior, but position or status. you are one of His holy ones.
