decisions decisions
The end result of a process of reflection upon possible courses of action, informed and sustained by a concern to please God.
In addition to his direct involvement in guiding his people, Yahweh also has human agents and divinely appointed means to assist his people. Godly parents (Prov 4:11), prophets (1 Sam 12:23; Lk 1:79) and other advisers (Prov 11:14) serve as God’s “tour guides” through life. The Word of God is itself closely linked to guidance for the believer, and it is described as “a lamp to my feet and a light for my path” (Ps 119:105; cf. Prov. 11:22). In a similar way the Holy Spirit guides the apostles (and by extension believers generally) “into all truth” (Jn 16:13). The prerequisites for guidance include humility (Ps 25:9), integrity (Prov 11:3), discernment (1:5) and wisdom (Prov 16:23).
