Introduction
Introduction
An epistle to help the church understand it’s identity.
Blessings:
Complete in Christ
Chosen by God
Holy and blameless
Loved perfectly
Adopted as sons of God
As we look at all the blessings, is very important that we understand that:
It is all because of Him and for His glory
But also that all these blessings are shared blessings with the other members of the church.
Church as a body:
which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.
and might reconcile them both in one body to God through the cross, by it having put to death the enmity.
eph 2
to be specific, that the Gentiles are fellow heirs and fellow members of the body, and fellow partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel,
eph
There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling;
Hay un solo cuerpo y un solo Espíritu, así como también vosotros fuisteis llamados en una misma esperanza de vuestra vocación;
for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ;
a fin de capacitar a los santos para la obra del ministerio, para la edificación del cuerpo de Cristo;
from whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by what every joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love.
For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church, He Himself being the Savior of the body.
because we are members of His body.
eph
porque somos miembros de su cuerpo.
This is very important because we can be tempted to think that we receive these blessings individually without any shared connection. While salvation is individual, such salvation will always be shared in the body. Meaning that the outwork of our salvation is made manifest in the body of Christ.
Only Through Christ we receive God’s Grace
Only Through Christ we receive God’s Grace
to the praise of the glory of His grace, which He freely bestowed on us in the Beloved.
Who is the Beloved? - Jesus
and behold, a voice out of the heavens said, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well-pleased.”
Y he aquí, se oyó una voz de los cielos que decía: Este es mi Hijo amado en quien me he complacido.
We are loved by God because we are in Christ.
There is no other way of receiving God’s love apart from the Son.
God’s love is limited and at the same time limitless.
Limited because His saving love is limited to those that are in Christ
Limitless because those who are in Christ are loved eternally
God’s grace is free but not cheap, a price had to be paid, Christ sacrifice.
Redemption
Redemption
7In Him we have redemption through His blood,
7In Him we have redemption through His blood,
8which He lavished on us. In all wisdom and insight
9He made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His kind intention which He purposed in Him
10with a view to an administration suitable to the fullness of the times, that is, the summing up of all things in Christ, things in the heavens and things on the earth. In Him
7En El tenemos redención mediante su sangre,
Ephesians: The MacArthur New Testament Commentary The Meaning of Redemption
Two Greek legal terms are related to redemption. Agorazō, and the related exagorazō, refer to buying or purchasing. The source of the terms is agora, which means marketplace, and the root idea of the derived verbs and nouns referred to buying and trading in the marketplace. In the New Testament they are used to denote spiritual purchase or redemption

The source of the terms is agora, which means marketplace, and the root idea of the derived verbs and nouns referred to buying and trading in the marketplace. In the New Testament they are used to denote spiritual purchase or redemption.
The other term for redemption, (root) lutroō (along with its related forms), meant to release from captivity. It carried an even stronger meaning than agorazō and is behind the noun rendered here as redemption.
During New Testament times the Roman Empire had as many as six million slaves, and the buying and selling of them was a major business. If a person wanted to free a loved one or friend who was a slave, he would buy that slave for himself and then grant him freedom, testifying to the deliverance by a written certificate. Lutroō was used to designate the freeing of a slave in that way.
Redeemer - Jesus
The redeemed - Us - sinners
The price - His blood
Not the actual blood, but the act of giving His life, the sacrifice of giving Himself, the pouring out of Himself.
Forgiveness of Sins
Forgiveness of Sins
the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace 8which He lavished on us.

How much are we forgiven? According to the riches of His grace.
As far as the east is from the west,
So far has He removed our transgressions from us.
When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions,
Forgiveness in Jesus Christ is undeserved, but it is free and it is complete. Those who have Him have freedom from sin, now and throughout eternity. In Christ our sins—past, present, and future—“are forgiven … for His name’s sake”. They were forgiven countless ages before we committed them and will remain forgiven forever.
It is so sad to see Christians that live in spiritual poverty, thinking that they have to some how make sure they atone for their sins. Many people living in constant fear, thinking that if they make one little mistake, and Christ comes on that same moment, they would be left behind.
I am not saying that we are excuse to sin, or that sinning doesn’t have consequences, what I am saying is that the ultimate consequence of sin, death, has already been taken away, it has been dealt with.
Let us not commit the sins for which Jesus already paid.

We receive from God the knowledge and understanding of the most important things, such as life and death, God and man, righteousness and sin, heaven and hell, eternity and time.
in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
Once in Christ, our minds are changed. We know have the wisdom and knowledge needed to understand life.
Many people walk this planet without a single clue about the meaning of life.
Who are we? Where did we come from? What is our purpose? Where are we going?
In Christ and only in Christ those questions are answered.
10with a view to an administration suitable to the fullness of the times, that is, the summing up of all things in Christ, things in the heavens and things on the earth.
We receive understanding of God’s ultimate plan.
In the end, all things are going to be ruled by Christ.
9 For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name,
10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
