Authority of logic
As any divine attribute, logic and rationality are the gold standard by which people must critique themselves.
Since logic and rationality are grounded in the nature and character of God, they are necessarily authoritative. This is the case with other attributes of God. Since God is holy, His holiness is the standard by which people are judged for purity. In this sense, divine holiness is authoritative; this holiness is the standard by which purity and righteousness are judged. People are unjustified to change this standard, which ultimately is a lowering of the standard.
Likewise, divine rationality (rational and logical nature of the divine mind) is the standard by which Christians need to be held.
The authority of logic provides the basis for understanding the importance and value of philosophical arguments for God’s existence.
These arguments begin with a biblical fact and provide more support for it.
For instance, cosmological arguments begin with a feature of the known universe and deduce God’s existence.
As an example, the Kalam cosmological argument is predicated on the biblically consistent notion that whatever begins to exist has a cause for it existence. Christians see this as being true for all things within and about the cosmos. From the biblical principle a cause is necessary for the existence of anything with a beginning, the existence of the divine is extrapolated.
Whatever begins to exist has a cause for its existence.
The universe began to exist.
The universe has a cause for its existence.
The moral argument for God’s existence is predicated on the biblical notion of objective morality and deduces the necessity of God’s existence for this feature of life.
If objective moral laws and duties do not exist, then God does not exist.
God does exist.
Therefore, objective moral laws and duties exist.
