Intro:

Good morning!
We’re going to be in … This chapter is such a beautiful one!
In this chapter you find topics such as:
Death
Life
Relationship
Jesus’ Power!
Now, of course, we’re going to go through all of this so that we get a glimpse of Jesus’ resurrection power.
But, first, I like to come around to a couple students so that they can share what they’ve learned the past couple days.
Get 3 Kids to share...

Let’s Get Started

Pray
V.1-3
Now, we know Mary and Martha.. They’re pretty popular right?
Martha brought Jesus to her house, and we see Mary was there.. Now, Martha was distracted by serving and Mary was just sitting at His feet, listening to his words.
Martha complains, “OMG, I’m doing all the work here and she’s doing nothing.. Don’t you care Jesus that I’m doing all the work? Don’t you care that shes being lazy?” Jesus tells Martha.. “You’re worried about a lot… But one thing is needed, and Mary got it right...”
Jesus would go on and have a great relationship with the family.
So, some time has passed from their last encounter… Lazarus gets deathly sick! It must’ve been pretty serious if the sisters sent a messenger to tell Jesus...
I mean like today, “When we’ve got a little cold do we pray and ask for healing?” We might say a little prayer here or there… but when someone we know gets stage 4 cancer.. we are on our knees crying out to God to heal that person..
Now, we get to verse 3..
Lord, the one you love is sick.
The word for love here isn’t agape… It’s phielo.
For those of you who don’t know about agape and stuff...
Agape love is perfect love… It’s the love that God loves us with.
Phileo love is friendship love. It’s the relationship that friends have.
So here.. The sisters are speaking of a friendship..
Using this word, Jesus doesn’t have to love Lazarus, or Mary, or anyone… Jesus chooses to love them.
