God is a God of increase. It is a God given desire to increase.
TIME -
Can you name three days in a row without using Wed, Fri, or Sun.? Yesterday, today and tomorrow.
Life is a vapor
Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
It is perishable - once it passes it is over.
You don’t have enough time to squander in sin.
You must be a good steward of your body so you have a long life, but not just a long life a happy joyful life.
Everyone gets the same amount.
A person waiting for time to serve God will never get it. We have to make it.
TALENT -
If you’re calling only involves you, it isn’t of God.
from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, with the proper functioning of each part, brings about the body’s growth and builds itself up in love.
Joined & Held together by supporting one another
Proper functioning of each part - you have a part
What brings the body’s growth? Every part doing its part.
You have significance
He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius. And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God. And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon, whose surname is Peter: He lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea side: he shall tell thee what thou oughtest to do.
Why didn’t God just send the angel? God’s plan has always been and will always be to work through His people.
TREASURE -
Let’s start with the basics. Simply put, the tithe is the first 10% of your income that should be given to your local church. It’s strictly measured in money, so you can’t replace it with giving your time or your talents.
Average American spends more than he makes.
Financial pressure is the greatest reason for divorce.
Stewardship -
Responisibility
Reward
Traps to avoid
Traps to avoid
High interest rates - buy if you can pay at the end of the month
Eating out - the average American household throws out over $3,000 of food a month
Take lunch to work. If it only saves $10 a day it will mean $2500 a year. That added to a Roth IRA with only 8% interest will mean about $100,000 for retirement. One couple reviewed their spending and found out they spent $30,000 eating out.
