I. HE COMFORTS MY AFFLICTION.

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort. He comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any kind of affliction, through the comfort we ourselves receive from God.” (HCSB)

II. HE TEACHES ME TRUTH.

1. He guards my mind.

“For the mind of the flesh is death; but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace:” (ASV)

“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.” (ESV)

2. He guides my path.

“For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.” (ESV)

III. HE CONVICTS ME OF SIN.

1. Conviction

“When He comes, He will convict the world about sin, righteousness, and judgment:” (ESV)

2. Confession

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (ESV)

3. Forgiveness

“The Son paid for our sins, and in him we have forgiveness.” (NCV)

4. Assurance

“The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God.” (ESV)

IV. HE CONFIRMS MY SALVATION.

1. He testifies that I am saved.

“The Spirit himself joins with our spirit to bear witness that we are children of God.” (NJB)

2. He indwells my life.

“You, however, are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, since the Spirit of God lives in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him.” (HCSB)

“He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world at large cannot receive him, because it isn't looking for him and doesn't recognize him. But you do, because he lives with you now and later will be in you.” (NLT)

V. HE EMPOWERS MY SERVICE.

1. He helps me to pray.

“In the same way, the Holy Spirit helps us where we are weak. We do not know how to pray or what we should pray for, but the Holy Spirit prays to God for us with sounds that cannot be put into words.” (NLV)

2. He enables me to bear fruit.

“But what the Spirit produces is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. There is no law against such things!” (GSPD)

3. He fills me with His presence.

“Stop getting drunk with wine, which leads to wild living, but keep on being filled with the Spirit.” (ISV)

“For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.” (ESV)

The Spirit and the bride say, "Come!" And let him who hears say, "Come!" Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life. (NIV)
