Once Saved, Always Saved?

Why do we ask this question?
Shallow understanding of this topic

Hebrews 6:
Hebrews 6:1–3 NASB95
Therefore leaving the elementary teaching about the Christ, let us press on to maturity, not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God, of instruction about washings and laying on of hands, and the resurrection of the dead and eternal judgment. And this we will do, if God permits.
Article 1 of the Baptist Faith and Message

The Holy Bible was written by men divinely inspired and is God's revelation of Himself to man. It is a perfect treasure of divine instruction. It has God for its author, salvation for its end, and truth, without any mixture of error, for its matter.

Moses

Led the Israelites out of Egypt (Passover)
Exodus 32:
God Fed them, gave them water, bread, meat.
Moses goes up to receive the law.
People running amuck.
Exodus 32:7 NASB95
Then the Lord spoke to Moses, “Go down at once, for your people, whom you brought up from the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves.
Exodus 32:9 NASB95
The Lord said to Moses, “I have seen this people, and behold, they are an obstinate people.
Exodus 32:
Exodus 32:9–10 NASB95
The Lord said to Moses, “I have seen this people, and behold, they are an obstinate people. “Now then let Me alone, that My anger may burn against them and that I may destroy them; and I will make of you a great nation.”
Exodus
God deals with those that sinned against him.
Exodus 32:32–35 NASB95
“But now, if You will, forgive their sin—and if not, please blot me out from Your book which You have written!” The Lord said to Moses, “Whoever has sinned against Me, I will blot him out of My book. “But go now, lead the people where I told you. Behold, My angel shall go before you; nevertheless in the day when I punish, I will punish them for their sin.” Then the Lord smote the people, because of what they did with the calf which Aaron had made.
Exodus
These people had applied the blood, but now have been destroyed. Were they saved or weren’t they?

Academic Study
You believe you are saved, but fear that because you have strayed into sin, your salvation is in jeopardy.
2 Corinthians 13:5 NASB95
Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you—unless indeed you fail the test?

3. You are concerned about other (family or friends)
4. You want to be saved, but you want to live how you want.
Hebrews 6:4–8 NASB95
For in the case of those who have once been enlightened and have tasted of the heavenly gift and have been made partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, and then have fallen away, it is impossible to renew them again to repentance, since they again crucify to themselves the Son of God and put Him to open shame. For ground that drinks the rain which often falls on it and brings forth vegetation useful to those for whose sake it is also tilled, receives a blessing from God; but if it yields thorns and thistles, it is worthless and close to being cursed, and it ends up being burned.
Don’t write any doctrinal statements in stone.
pump the brakes.
have need for someone to give you milk and not solid food.
but solid food is for the mature who because of practice have their senses trained to discern good and evil.
A warning not to fall away.
Don’t be afraid to question what you believe.
Some say its not about salvation. It is.
Some say its not about judgement. It is.
Never give up hope!
Hebrews 6:9–10 NASB95
But, beloved, we are convinced of better things concerning you, and things that accompany salvation, though we are speaking in this way. For God is not unjust so as to forget your work and the love which you have shown toward His name, in having ministered and in still ministering to the saints.
;
It is a fearful thing to face the questions of what we believe and why. We fear the past. We fear the future. But today rest in the Hope that we have in Christ Jesus.
