Intro: We live in a society where everyone wants to be famous.
Intro: We live in a society where everyone wants to be famous.
From blogs to youtubers, from celebrities to the average person on the street. To some it doesn’t matter how they get there fame, just as long as they are famous. Still others create their fame and project a reality for everyone to see and yet within the four walls of their home they are different people, their private life does not reflect their public life. From Presidential hopeful John Edwards to Bill Cosby, From Tiger Woods to Martha Stewart. The church is not immune to this, we have all seen our fair share of fallen Pastor’s. We’ve seen this countless times play out before us on TV, celebrities entering rehab, committing suicide, being arrested because within the public view everything is ok, but in private, everything is falling apart. What we will discover in our text today is that Christ private life was vital in his life, Christ private life was misunderstood by his disciples, Christ private life was the fuel for his public ministry.

A. Notice His Priority
A. Notice His Priority
Jesus was exhausted, he had a very busy Sabbath at the synagogue. He was teaching, performing miracles, casting out demons. Then he went home with Peter and healed his mother in law. All of the sudden there were people lined up outside his door and Christ continued his healing ministry. I could imagine he was ministering late into the evening. This was a tired, exhausted, sleepless Jesus and yet what do we find him doing. Is Jesus sleeping in? Is Jesus hitting the snooze button? No because Jesus Private life was vital, important, crucial to his public life.

c) Where the first Adam failed to be dependent in the face of adversity, temptation and self-centeredness. We see Christ again reigning in victory showing us what it means to be dependent on the Father.

2. When did Jesus do this?
2. When did Jesus do this?
You know what i find interesting, is I am sure this was a daily routine or pattern for Jesus. That he would go, pray and have a convo with his Papa. But what I find interesting is that Mark records a statement like this 3 times in his Gospel.
a) Here in
a) Here in
b) In
b) In
c) In
c) In
Why does Mark give us these three. I believe Mark points out these three times because there are three points in the Life of Jesus which are critical and could be mission altering. Jesus’ fame was growing and he could have just operated his ministry from Peter’s mother in law house, but was that what he did?
In he just finished feeding thousands of people from a little boys lunch. This Jesus offers free health care and free food program! We learn from that the people wanted to make him king by force. What does Jesus do?
How about , hours before arrest Jesus is beginning to feel the agony of the torture and the cross, it begins to weigh on him. What does Jesus do?

For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord.
For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.
